PFL 2015 -2016 ***UPDATED 8/02/2015***

I'm hoping to host The PFL (Purgatory Football League) again this season ... it will depend on the interest and participation of you guys. I had a lot of fun doing this last season, and hope to expand on it this season. I will be posting more info on changes from last year to this year sometime this weekend. Please feel free to reply in this thread if you are interested in participating. I want to get started setting this thing up if possible. The College Football season is not far away now, and I will have a lot to organize.

The PFL is a weekly college football Pick Em with it's own unique format. Participants will be divided up into conferences; the number of conferences will be dependent on the total number of participants. My hope is we can get a max of 48 participants divided into 4 conferences. At the end of the regular season, the 2 members in each conference with the best Win/Lost record will advance to the Playoffs. The Playoffs will consist of conference championships (if we can reach the 48 member threshold), 2 semi finals, and the Overall league championship.

How does the league work?

Each week every member will be matched up head to head with another member of their respective conference, and will be presented with a number of weekly game picks. The objective is to make the most number of correct picks, score the most points, and win the match up.


How do you score points?

The weekly game picks will be divided into 4 quarters, with 4 picks per quarter. Look at these picks as offensive drives ... you will have 4 offensive drives per quarter. Each pick will have 2 options in which to make the pick:

1)Pick the straight up winner for a FG - 3 pts.
2)Pick the winner vs the spread for a TD - 6 pts plus an automatic PAT - 1 pt. If you pick vs the spread, you will also have the option to go for 2 points (Go For 2 Bonus)by picking which team will score first in the game.

Hail Mary Bonus

After all games have been played, the points are tallied, and you trail your opponent by 7 pts or less, you will have the opportunity to pull a last second TD. If successful you will be awarded 6 points plus a 1 pt PAT. This can either win you the match up or tie the score, thus sending the match up into overtime, where the tie breaker will be used to decide the winner.

New this year is defensive scoring!

Pick 6 Bonus

Each week you will have 4 opportunities at a Pick 6. To get the Pick 6 you will have to correctly pick the winner of a randomly pick college game. These games will be from obscure lower division games. Probably between teams you never heard of before! Pick 6 Bonus will be worth 6 pts plus 1 point PAT.

There will be two deadlines to submit picks:

Primary - By 10:00 AM EST Gameday
Secondary - by 11:00 AM EST Gameday.

**The secondary deadline will occur a 2 point penalty .... known as the "Safety" Bonus which is awarded to your opponent.

Offensive Scoring

Game Picks
You will have 2 Options in which to make your picks:
1) Pick the Winner Straight up = 3 pts (FG)
2) Pick the Winner vs the spread = 6 pts (TD) plus 1 pt (PAT)
**If you pick vs the Spread, you will have the option to settle for the automatic 1 pt PAT or play for the Go for 2 Bonus.

Go for 2 Bonus
You may elect to play for this bonus if you pick vs the spread. To play for the bonus all you have to do is predict which team will score first in that particular game. If your prediction is successful you will be awarded a 2 pt conversion instead of the automatic 1 pt PAT.

Hail Mary Bonus
After all games are complete, scores are tallied, and you trail your opponent by 7 points or less … you will have the opportunity to make one last heave to the end zone. To play this bonus you will have to predict the total combined yardage of a designated game within 75 yards. If your prediction is successful, you will be awarded 6 pts (TD) plus a 1 pt PAT. This can either win you the match up or tie the score and send it to Overtime, where the Tie Breaker will be used to determine the winner.

Tie Breaker
The Tie Breaker is to be used to determine the winner of a match up that ends in a tie. The Tie Breaker will consist of predicting the total combined points of a designated game. The one closest to the actual total combined points wins, and will be awarded 3 pts (FG)

Defensive Scoring

Pick 6 Bonus
You will have 4 opportunities to make a Pick 6 in each weekly Match Up. To obtain the Pick 6 Bonus, you will have to correctly pick the winner of randomly selected game. These games will be selected from DII and DIII college games. A Pick 6 Bonus is worth 6 pts (TD) plus an automatic 1 pt PAT.

Safety Bonus
Each week you will have to 2 deadlines to submit your picks:
1) 10:00 AM EST Game Day (Primary Deadline)
2) 11:00 AM EST Game Day (Secondary Deadline)
If you fail to submit your picks by the Primary Deadline, but get them submitted before the Secondary Deadline, you will occur a penalty, and your opponent will be awarded a 2 pt Safety Bonus. If you fail to submit your picks before the Secondary Deadline, you will forfeit the Match Up, and score zero points.

**If both participants in any Match Up fail to make their submissions before the Secondary Deadline, both forfeit, and the Match Up will be declared a Tie. No points will be awarded.


Special Teams Scoring

House It Bonus
You will have 2 opportunities each week to Take one to the House on Special Teams. This bonus has 2 types:

1)Punt Return
2)Kick Off Return

To obtain this bonus you will have to predict OVER/UNDER on the predicted total combine points of a randomly selected game. If successful, you will be awarded 6 pts (TD) plus an automatic 1 pt PAT for each one you pick correctly.
