Anyone really care about what's going on with her? Kinda ridiculous she's getting singled out but then again racism sucks. So long freedom of speech.

She dropped the N word in reference to some thing and because she is supposed to be this ultra-Southern icon, she is being lambasted by critics and dropped left and right by sponsors.

I think she's catching the crap she deserves, but I also think there's a double standard. If Giada Delaurentis dropped the N word, she'd issue an apology, she'd get a slap on the wrist fromt he Food Network, and she'd move on. Paula is catching shite because she is the ideal target. Totally her fault for saying what she said, mind you, but I would like to see everyone recognize the inequality in the backlash.

What a bunch of horseshite.

How much of this entrepreneur's earnings are confiscated annually and given as handouts to blacks? HOw much has this successful entrepreneur donated voluntarily out of her own pocket to charities that benefit blacks?

And now she deserve's to be shunned? And now her profits may suffer.........and she won't make as much money.......and so the state will be able to confiscate less for the welfare......and she'll be able to donate less to the needy?

frick this moronic society we live in. It's so far beyond the Twilight Zone, I don't even know what to call it anymore.

Sidenote: Do you people even know about the instance she is accused of using the N-word? She was describing a black man that was holding a gun to her head.

Sounds like a pretty accurate description to me.

Considering who she is, this is being blown way out of context. She is a middle aged woman who grew up in Georgia. I doubt there are any that have never said the "N" word in their lives...

The first amendment is completely unrelated here. She isn't in any trouble with the government. You have a freedom of speech, not a freedom to a high profile cooking show

With that said, I agree with a lot of the other posts that she is getting railroaded due to specific aspects of who she is.

Well I'm actually pretty biased on the matter. My parents and her and husband mike are close. I'm around her a good bit. Over at their house hanging out and stuff. But I've honestly never heard her say anything bad about anyone. Her accent is real and she's a genuinely good lady. It's real sad to see her take such a fall for a word she said she used 27 years ago.

The whole deal is horse shite. Its the same reason we have affirmative action AND a black president...obviously da white man still holdin em back.

I wish society as a whole would just get over the racist bullshite There is just as much black towards white racism as the other way. In fact, here in Georgia, its worse.

Had some horrible council on this lawsuit...shoulda just settled the whole thing before it even got deposition stage.

Having said that, the reaction is total horseshite.

All she admitted to was having said the word 25+ years ago. Everything else is accusations and hasn't had a fair trial which she denies all. The girl suing her not only is white, but owes a good bit in back taxes. We all know her it's bullshite

That's what my understand is as well. She was asked in a deposition if she had EVER dropped the N Bomb in her life, and she said yes. And that's why they fired her. They should probably go ahead and fire everyone on the Network if that's all it takes. Show me someone who claims they haven't dropped an N bomb, and I'll show you a liar.

That's the point I'm trying to make.

If this is the line we want to draw over things like the N word, that's fine but be prepared to carry out justice on everyone.

Deen is only catching the flack she is because of what she represents: Old Southern white people.
