duh...

quote:

Former Lions defensive lineman Lawrence Jackson is ripping the Lions for losing Ndamukong Suh in free agency, saying an arrogant front office has failed to do enough to keep its key players while coddling quarterback Matthew Stafford.
quote:

Jackson added that Stafford gets away with being lazy because the team doesn’t demand otherwise. According to Jackson, the franchise quarterback should be leading by example, but in Detroit it was Suh and Calvin Johnson who did that.

Not surprised. Stafford has never had the reputation of being a workout/film junkie..not saying he's lazy or that these statements are true but they probably aren't surprising for folks who have followed his career.

Like I was saying earlier idk why anyone would listen to this dumb arse. I dont buy that he's lazy whatsoever. That franchise is a shite show and them letting his boy Suh go over that massive contract is one of the few sensible things theyve done

It's probably not a good thing is Suh is a "leader" on the team.

Or, to paraphrase Easy Wind from Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead: "When your leaders look like those motherfrickers, you know you done stepped in it one time too many."

I seem to remember a story about a bad snowstorm last year, that knocked out a bridge and Stafford was blocked by the traffic. He was out helping the people that got hurt. That was 6 am and he was on his way to the football complex.

Key word is "former". Most former players like to dis the team like they were the only one who cared. "I coulda been a contenda"

Yea, Stafford was a party boy at Georgia and no surprise that his attitude would carry over into the NFL but I would also guess that there are 2 sides to this story. Jackson and Suh are off the team for reasons apparently deemed justified by Lions management.

Jackson wasn't good and Suh wanted a franchise crippling contract. Stafford may not be the hardest worker around but those players and fans need to realize where that franchise was before he got there. They landed the #1 pick because they went 0-16! This is the best and most consistent QB play Detroit has had in 65 years or so.

You don't throw for 4,000 yards in the NFL by being lazy

They lost Suh because they didn't wanna pay him a record contract. They got Haloti Ngata for much cheaper. Ngata doesn't have Suh's pass rush ability but running up the middle with him there doesn't happen too often. I'm guessing Detroit was fed up with Suh's "antics" and decided he wasn't worth the trouble. They now have cap space to address other areas of need on what is already a good team.
