All clear now in North Alabama. I measured over 4" of rain from 6 pm yesterday to 10:30 am today. Add that to the 2" on Monday night/Tuesday morning and we got about 2 months of rain in 2 days. Lots of high wind. Measured 21 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Several tornadoes nearby but none too close to me. 3 killed about 40 miles away.

We have only a couple of small fires here and the wind spread them somewhat before the rain came so they're still burning but it slowed them down a bit. I hear in Tennessee that the wind spread them too and they are still not under control.

A good good friend of mine (retired) sold his city house and moved lock, stock and barrel to his home in the TN mountains.
It burned to the slab yesterday.

I couldn't imagine that's awful... any idea what he's going to do now?

I have to assume there would be homeowner's insurance involved.
I would be thankful I wasn't in the home or had the opportunity to get away, personally.
