1) I'm looking at getting a new tv for living room. I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not tech geek and know very little about what Im looking at besides the higher the refresh rate the better. So im seeing all of these 4k tvs that are 2100p vs the normal 1080p. My question is will I be able to noticeably tell a difference? Will a normal HD broadcast be shown in 2150p? For me, I mainly watch hunting shows and sports. Other than that its on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I do enjoy kicking some arse in madden, qmd killing Canadians in GTA, but thats about it. Will i really see the difference and spending double the amount for the 4k?

2) Cable and Internet options. I'm currently using U verse for both products. While the service itself seems to work fairly well (besides the one wireless box that loses service from time to time) I feel like I'm getting bent over and raped with their pricing. They say one thing then charge me another... I'll call and complain, they fix it for a month or so.. then back to the anal rape.

What would be some other recommendations? Ive seen the Xfinity commercials and am intrigued. Has anyone used them? Good? Bad? If not them, who else is worth a look see?

Thanks.

Oh yeah frick Tech!

I'm no expert either. But I'd say go big on refresh rate (240) and fuk that 2000p shite.

Very little content out at the moment. If I found some great deal, I'd jump on it, but I wouldn't extend my budget too much for it.

You'll notice a difference in big screens. I can see it on my 60" but I can't really tell on my neighbor's 40". I know Netflix streams 4K but I don't think there are many other 4K sources that are widely available. That may be why I can't tell on the neighbor's TV, he may not have the bandwidth required to stream 4K.

There's just not a lot of 4k programming out there right now. Netflix is all I know that used it.

I've also read that the viewing distance has to be fairly close to notice a difference.

U verse

Not only are they raping you, they're not even doing it well. Their Internet is garbage unless you live where they have fiber. You won't be streaming anything in 4K with them.

Xfinity

Has legit Internet service. And our bill went down about $60 a month for the same channels.

My 5 year old stands IN that bitch so he'd be more qualified to comment on that than I am. Well...if that fricker could spell or type. Even then he would just inform Spunky that he loves ham and cheese.

Yea if I get a new tv it'll be 50+ more than likely 60+. Is everything moving towards 4k though? I mean, will I be kicking myself in 2-3 years for not spending the extra money for it? If things are moving that way do you think I'll be able to get a 4k tv a good bit cheaper next year? I know things are always changing and are out of date by the time you get them home, but if soon everything will be in 4k I might as well get it now. Unless I'll save a small fortune by waiting 6-9 months.

I would let technology work a bit for me. As you know, it does no good to have the ability to display without the feed.

Let it age, price goes down, providers adapt and include it.

I will say it is an impressive picture. I saw it at Best Buy about a ~year ago and was memorized and I think it was a fricking picture of a cactus blooming or some shite.

It's the way everything is headed. 4K is still just a stepping stone to whatever comes in ten years or less.

The 2160p is, at this time, a waste of money till you get more 4k sources (only few Netflix items are 4k).

Xfinity (cable internet) > Uverse (DSL), unless it is the Uverse/Gigaverse or whatever they call it now, 1GB d/l speed.

Only downside to Xfinity (Comcast) is the damn customer service. I have had them for 8 years for internet, got rid of the TV service last year and use DirecTV for my boobtube purposes (I save about $30 a month and now have all movie channels compared to just HBO and Starz). I have the 70mb d/l package, not that I see those speeds but torrenting is a breeze with it compared to my neighbors Uverse (DSL).

There is not much 4k content other than Netflix and that wouldn't work for me because my ISP has a monthly usage limit of 250GB. I don't use Netflix but I do stream football and tennis at 720P and I'm satisfied.

It's important not to buy too large a screen if you are limited to a close viewing distance. My friend wanted to buy the largest TV he could afford but it looks grainy in his small living room.

Xfinity is trying to put that on us here in Shreveport next month, already put my complaint in to the FCC about that due to Netflix, Xbox One (if I bought 5 games via marketplace, that would kill my limit right there), etc.

Your best bet is to upgrade from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse to Little Einsteins. Best show going.

Yes.

It's like having a color TV in 1967 vs not having one.

Actually, the bigger the TV the farther back you go. However, if you get right on top of a screen you can tell a difference, too.

Yes.

Some of the TVs (probably most) will convert a regular HD program to play 4K. Is it the same as 4K filmed programming? I have no idea.
