Is he like his father? Could he win the presidency?

I think he can in 2020/2024

Not sure he is ready yet

ETA- Not sure that America is ready for him either. He's definitely appealing to a younger crowd, but he's going to have trouble getting money and endorsement from the stuffy white dudes of the GOP

I'd prefer Cruz over him my dream person to run and win the office would be Gen. James Mattis

He comes across way better than his father who was viewed to be on the fringe and not really a serious threat to win the presidency.

It's a long season but I think he is a legitimate candidate people can get behind and has as good a shot as any to win the Republican nomination. The real test will be beating Hillary unless the cause can get helped by her imploding.

Rand Paul isn't anything like his father. He's 100%, run-of-the-mill GOP politician...which means he'll probably fare well.

Yeah, that's the impression I got from him. I heard something about him that pissed me off but I don't remember what. The two party system is stupid.

Ron was who you like if you are a contrarian. Rand is Ron-lite. More electable, but still not electable.

I am definitely a Ron Paul fan.... The 2 Party system is so corrupt that He didn't stand a chance in either party.... The man was impeccable ... His voting records show it... and he did not take a Federal Pension just like all the other SOB's in congress....

The man had integrity..... something that Politicians lack these days...

Can we get a countdown timer that points to when Jefferson bursts onto the scene in this thread and sows mayhem on principle, since this involves politics, the government and any manner of related discussion?

Larding up bills that he knew would pass with earmarks, then voting against the bill so he could claim to be against earmarks - that's integrity?

At the end of the day, he was just another politician - promised a lot, delivered little.

Even if he is terrible he would be worlds better than this piece of shite we have now. Whoever we get will have alot of work to do to fix this mess.

I like Rand, at least compared to the other jackwagons running this time. Just please no Elizabeth Warren from the left or Ted Cruz from the right.

I think he is a sincere person and a smart guy. It would be interesting to see how his libertarian foreign policy would be implemented. Usually it's the office that molds policies as much as the President molding the office. I don't think most Republicans will vote for Rand in the primaries due to concern with his foreign policy.

Rand was the overwhelming favorite at CPAC, so I wouldn't count on that assumption. Conservatives love him for his conservative views and independents love him for his moderate views. He's not really a Libertarian. He's more a Constitutionalist with right leaning moderate views.

He's the only thing close to an actual President that's running this election. Everyone else is either too fringe left or right, or they're already in the pocket of the corporate and military industrial complex.

Rand is our best bet to begin turning out bad situations around. We can't take another president who's in the pockets of the establishment and going to continue running our debt up.

They're all corrupt. The problem is we need to elect the least corrupt of them at this point. And Rand is that person.

Anyone elected on a platform of pulling back from our current war footing and deployment in every country of the world would be assassinated before he/she ever set foot in office.

And nobody would care or probably even know about it if it wasn't tweeted or put on facebook.

The last guy who cast a vote that mattered was Lee Harvey Oswald, and look how that turned out for him.
