try Walmart...husband got his iPhone screen replaced there recently. Think it was about $70.

If you order a new one it's pretty easy to do it yourself.

Touché. I wa actually washing one of my GSI plates to eat off of and I was on the phone and the shite slipped outta my hand and shattered.
Anyone that has had this problem: how long can it last without having to get a new screen?

Get a new one quickly. It can get worse. Little bits of glass or water can cause big problems.
