I will be in ATL for a few days next week. I'm looking for some recommendations for a beer/package store that carries a wide variety of craft beer stuff. More specifically, I'm looking for some Berliner Weisse and Gose brews. Back in July a buddy gave me a 6-pack of Southbound Brewing's Transilience, a Berliner Weisse. That one seems to be a seasonal brew that SB isn't packaging right now, wish they were, it was pretty damned good. But, surely there have to be some breweries with a Berliner Weisse available year round?

Dogfish Head makes a Festina Peche, a peach Berliner Weisse that I'd like to try. Hell, it may be seasonal, too.

The package stores in Albany, GA certainly don't have much to choose from. I've found a few Goses at The Warehouse but, that's about it. Appreciate any recommendations!

In ATL?

Hop City in West Midtown or Krog Street
Tower Spirits in Buckhead
Mac's in Midtown
Capital City off Howell Mill
H&F Bottle Shop

If you're looking for a local Berliner Weisse, Creature Comforts is still making their seasonal Athena Paradiso.

Also, if you're looking for a good Gose, Second Self Brewery in ATL makes a Margarita Gose that isn't hard to find at the stores I mentioned.

I've had the Dogfish Head SeaQuench Ale and Terrapin's Good to Gose, those are pretty good. The Margarita Gose sounds like something in my wheelhouse, too, thanks.

Total Wine is always a good go-to as they are like a Walmart for beer, liquor, and wine. They have shelves and shelves of individual craft beers and 6packs. I'd check their site for locations as they have a few around the ATL.

As you can see that entire aisle is full of individual craft beer and they also have aisles of 6 packs and whatnot.

All of these are solid. If you're outside of ATL proper, let us know what part of town you'll be in... there are some other good shops OTP as well.

The wife and I will be staying at the Residence Inn Midtown across the street from The Steamhouse Lounge. I'll be venturing all the way up to Dawsonville and back on TH.

I'll be coming in on the southside from Warwick, one stop I planned to make was in Locust Grove, there's a package store there near Tanger I've been wanting to check out.

Beer shopping is relaxation for me so, any places to hit up are welcome!

Total Wine is the best for sure, but might be tough if you are staying in Midtown. Maybe look into Green's Liquor or Tower Beer if you don't want to go that far.

Also, how has Jefferson Dawg not blown this one up yet? Crapping all over craft beer and Jason Isbell are a couple of his favorite things!

Yeah, well, I've kinda expected someone to come in here and crap all over this at any minute.

But, I appreciate all the great tips and suggestions... I've been cruising the Total Wine website and seeing some of the things available I want to try. The Brookhaven store shouldn't be too far of a drive, I ain't skeered to drive around Atlanta.

Corks & Caps in the Buckhead/ Sandy Springs

They carry craft and micro brews, gose, saisons, etc as well as all the wine and liquor you might need. The folks are very knowledgable and helpful, unlike a number of the other larger wine and liqour places.

Sounds like a good place, noted.

I think my biggest obstacle is that most of the Berliner Weisse and Gose brews are seasonal and that season is mostly summer.

Sprayberry BS is a good spot if you're north of the city at any point. Also good for unique bourbons/whiskies among other things.

As others mentioned, Tower/Greens/Hop City probably your best bets if you're in the midtown area.

Not sure your familiarity with ATL or how much time you'll spend out and about, but Beer Bars worth going to if you have the time - Brickstore and The Porter. Wrecking Bar and The Porter are really close and could have a good night hitting those 2 places for beers and food. Brickstore is lights out, but is in Decatur, so depends on how much time available.

Yeah, she has the calendar pretty full so, I doubt any bars are in the mix. But, I hope to get a good supply of stuff to take back home for extended bar hours out on the dock!

Back to your Berliner Weisse question, I believe Creature Comfort's Athena is available year round. Athena Paradiso is a limited release version with ever changing adjuncts (I think the most recent one was grapefruit and something which I didn't love when I had it on draft, I liked the cranberry/cherry? one before it though).

Most of the places that have been listed though should give you access to plenty of styles, even if they're out of season.

If you're staying there, Mac's is maybe a mile down the road.

I just picked up a 6-pack of Three Taverns Enchantress Cranberry Sour Ale. Haven't popped a top on any of those yet... and I'm quite fond of Sam Adams Rebel Grapefruit IPA. So, a cranberry/cherry or a grapefruit Berliner Weisse is definitely something I'd be willing to try.

Lately, I've been drinking Three Taverns Rapturous Raspberry Sour Ale and Coastal Empire's Coco Piña Gose.

I definitely need to get some regular Athena and try it out. If it is good to go, maybe I can pressure The Warehouse in Albany to stock it.
