What the hell is he doing? Trading Korver to the Cavs and getting nothing. That 1st round pick probably won't be better that a 25th pick anyway.

Korver is a 34 year old role player with an expiring contract. We're lucky to get a bag a Doritos for him at this stage, much less a late first round pick. The Hawks weren't winning shite with him, so I consider it a win. We get a future asset

It was a bad move and I hope it's not a sign of future moves to tank this franchise.

Unfortunately, I think it is. Seems like they're trying everything in their power to dump Millsap.

Franchise is run by retards. If you are smart, You don't sign bazemore, Dennis, and Howard to contracts like that and then choose to tank the franchise.

Trading Korver and Millsap is "Tanking the franchise"? They're both old and on expiring contracts, and we aren't winning a championship with them.

Rumor is we are shopping hardaway as well. Team is starting to click and we already gave away a great shooter off the bench, so the ceiling on this season has already been lowered for no good reason.

With Hardaway's play, I can see trading an older Korver but I don't understand the shopping of Milsaps. He's the steadiest player on the team.

It's time to blow it up and start over. Limping into the playoffs every year as a middle of the road seed (minus last year) is never going to get us a good enough draft pick to improve the team

We needed hardaway and korver to have any chance of advancing far this year.

The ceiling on this season was never greater than getting trounced by Cleveland or Toronto in the playoffs. I love watching Korver and Milsap play, but giving big money to guys that age just doesn't make much sense. If we are going to stockpile draft picks and young assets for the purpose of making a big move or two, then I'm all for it. I would be opposed to getting rid of THJ, he is starting to fit in really well in Bud's system.

He's about to be a 32 year old free agent who is going to want big money and a few years. Generally speaking it's not a great idea to give that kind of money to aging big men.

The ceiling was conference finals, which is as good as it gets in the era of Lebrun. So I guess the hope is to get back to that ceiling one day down the road?

If your mindset is championship or bust this is a good move.

Every move the Hawks make should be aimed at a run at the ship in 2019.

I love Korver, but his play has diminished a little the past couple of years, and moving him allows us to get our two rookies more playing time, because they wont play otherwise. Could we have potentially gotten a little more for Kyle elsewhere? Probably, but it seems like we wanted to treat Kyle right, and get him to a team that will allow him to win a championship.

Millsap isnt coming back. He has already said it, so we could just let the year go by, get the 3rd or 4th seed, and get swept again by Cleveland, or we can trade him and get something back for him. He is going to be the biggest name available this year, so we should be able to get something good for him.

Two rumored deals for Paul have been with Toronto and New Orleans.

The Toronto deal being rumored is Jakob Poeltl, Delon Wright, Terrence Ross, Patrick Peterson, plus their two first rounders this year.....That would give us two very young guys in Poeltl and Wright, and Ross is a damn good bench player. Plus it would be two more first rounders, probably in the 20s that we could package together for a higher pick.

The New Orleans trade would be their first rounder, which will be in the top 10, and filler. This draft is loaded so a pick in the top ten would be huge.

Fair enough. You know a lot more about the deals than I do.

Not to mention we've accumulated so much draft capital (potentially more with a Millsap trade) that we could easily trade into the top 5/10 if we see somebody we really like. I'm not sure how aggressive this front office will be in that regard but it's certainly possible.

I feel like that's a lot to give up for Millsap, but I agree with pretty much everything in your post. The Hawks should absolutely be reloading. The team right now is a mid-tier/low-end playoff team and that won't get you anything in the long run. Get young, and get draft picks for the future.

This all started when we couldn't retain Demarre Carroll. Just couldn't put that toothpaste back in the tube.

I'm not a Hawks fan, so I'm sure others have better insight into this than me, but it was going to be really tough in the position the Hawks were in to try and pay Demarre $60 million over 4 years. That's a lot for him.
