300 miles off the coast, on the way to Cuba, which they do regularly because they have a base there, and have been for nearly 70 years.

Given all of the naval and other military bases in the south I think it's pretty pointless to do any prepping to prepare for a nuclear war. If that happens this part of the country will be glowing in the dark for a long time.
