Hate to see him go. On the surface it sucks but hoping Hart knows what he's doing

I think Dimitroff snuck in there, pulled off that trade and got away scot-free.

If the cuban kid is as good as advertised this deal works in our favor. We get a really above average everyday 3B to get rid of Johnson. We already have an uber talented 2b in the system to go with Jace Pederson so Peraza was a luxury. We pick up a draft pick and another hard throwing prospect. With the pitching talent and Wood regressing this trade does make some sense. It really depends on the Cubans ability to hit. If he produces we win this trade and if he doesn't then this trade is a miss. That being said, this trade is the opposite of what Hart has been doing. THis isn't aquiring young talent as we actually gave away our highest rated prospect however Peraza is never going to wow you with crazy stats but he will end up being a very solid 2b for the Dodgers.

At least when they were at the Ted it was easy coming in on I-20 from the west side to catch a coupla three games every year....

He's 30.

But you're right. If he stays healthy he could help get them ready to be contenders in 2017.

Yeah he's a plus hitter so if he's healthy and at only 32 in 2017 he should still be a good player. That being said, it's a risky deal and we gave away 2 good players to get him.

They didn't trade Peraza cause they think Jace is the long term guy. It's without a doubt Ozzie Albies who's in A ball. Little dude who switch hits and strokes. Going to be a savage.

I think the trade sucks but at least the UGA guy is going to a contender.

This trade really infuriated me at first glance, but as I sit down and look at everything this trade has huge potential if and only if Olivera turns out to be the hitter everyone says he is. Also I read Mark Bradley's article and usually the guy annoys me but he made some real good points. I think management mist think Albies is the second coming and because of that Peraza is expendable. I knew the fan base would be extremely pissed about Wood but what Dawg fan wouldn't? A home grown kid who went to UGA and then drafted by the Braves! Yet, I do see his recent statistics and I don't want to admit it but see possible regression. All in all I am trying to look at bright side and look to the future but this could still be a huge swing and miss. Also the Dodgers have a dirty filthy pitching staff. It is definitely the best staff in baseball. They rival the pitching staff the Braves had in the 90s. I'm not crazy their top end may not be as good but they have much better depth.

The Braves are a dumpster fire. The only trade that made any sense was packaging kimbrel and BJ Upton together. It was a bad contract and you had to pay the price to get him off the books.

We had a good core of players and we completely blew it up because our management isn't smart enough to know its a players league. They should have fired Gonzales and gotten a decent manager in there to coach those guys.

I will repeat: IT IS A PLAYER'S LEAGUE, and we chose a bum manager over a pretty good roster of talent from last year.

Also, blowing up a team is a good way for a new GM to give himself job security for a few years, just saying. He'll cash his check and keep saying "we're close, just a few more years."

Good riddance, eff the braves

You realize the Braves traded JIM Johnson and not Chris Johnson, right? We still have Chris Johnson the thirdbaseman.

I disagree. I ike the trade we got Shelby Miller in and we needed to go with young talent. The Braves were going nowhere with the roster they had. It was overpriced and stagnant. I like every move they've made so far expect this one. Wood was a good young pitcher. We needed offense, but I hate to see it at Wood's expense.

I'm with you. I've sort of understood the other trades. This one I don't understand.

I thought Wood would be relatively safe from trade. Now I'm questioning a little more whether anyone is truly safe. Will I hear tomorrow that we traded Freeman or Simmons?

They have no intention of getting rid of Freeman or Simmons. They have openly stated for a while we will trade pitching. We brought in a lot of young taleted pitchers so Wood became a trade piece. Julio Teheran probably won't be with the team for much longer either if they can get a good return.

I'm sorry, I'm sure you have some great points. But when you post I can't turn away from your avatar long enough to read any of them.

The Cuban signed for 66 million 32 of which was a signing bonus. The Dodgers paid that full bonus. If his minor league numbers translate the Braves got a great position player in return along with the Marlins 35th pick
