quote:

“They’re changing their offense to me,” Jones told Jake Reuse of UGASports.com. “It’d be more of a no huddle, and that’s what I like. They said they see how I run it in high school system, and they believe I could be successful playing at UGA.”

Smart and Georgia offensive coordinator Jim Chaney would be far from the first SEC coaches to incorporate no huddle and running quarterback elements into a more traditional pro-style offense. Smart knows all about this from his tenure in Alabama coaching alongside Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin. It is worth noting, however, that Jones’ quote by itself does not make it clear whether the changes are dependent on his signing with the Dawgs or if we can expect to see the system change with Eason or Fromm at quarterback.

Kid ain't comin' here. And why would he with Eason and Fromm on the roster?

Next.

He can have success at Ohio State as QB then try to make the NFL as a wide receiver. Meyer does does not develop pro quarterbacks.

While that may be true, I don't think Chaney has proven enough to say he's particularly capable, either. Hard to give him credit for Drew Brees.

And there's still the issue of him simply not wanting to be in Georgia.

Dude from Minnesota may be able to fix the QB woes.

What's the word on him? Don't really know much, actually.

Should have said this in OP but I agree with you guys, doesn't look like we have a snowball's chance in hell.

What was interesting to me was that Kirby and Chaney were telling this kid we were going to move to a more hurry up, no huddle, spread kind of deal he liked. I figure some of this may be telling him what he wants, sure, and any coach will adapt to his players. Still, interesting to see they are open to that.

who's the other DT guy, Fields? Any chance with him?

Also, when was the last real dual threat we had? And when I say DT I don't mean DJ shockley was simply a black pocket passer that had running ability, I mean like a jalen hurts or OSU with pryor or barrett?

I wasn't aroudn to see james jackson but I know he was black, maybe him? At any rate it's been a WHILE since we've had a guy like that.

Hmmmmmm

Hines wasn't really a QB, he was thrown into action in '95 due to injuries but that wasn't really his natural position.

Quincy...good question. the fact he isn't as good as those OSU QBs were might be clouding my judgment but now that I think about it I guess he would fit the mold here. We certainly ran a bunch of options and QB designed runs with him.

Don't know how I overlooked him. Guess I tried to put that era out of my memory. Also I've been drinking.

It's an easy shot to take at Meyer, but he did develop a #1 overall draft pick at QB, had another go in the first round, and had one go in the second round despite only starting 8 or so college games

Shockley was great with his legs, though. His Sugar Bowl against WVU is one of the five best UGA QB performances I've ever watched.

Add to the fact that Corch won a NC with his THIRD STRING QB. That's no small feat.

Not his job. A qb signing with him is signing for college.

This sounds like one of those instances where everyone knows that Jones is going to Ohio State... but Smart knows he needs to make a pitch, lest people ask later why Georgia didn't make a run for Jones.
