It's a business. He didnt perform. He'll be honored I'm sure and will always be respected but this is the job.

Ok,if it is a "business" how exactly was his performance affecting the bottom line?Revenues are up,correct?Season ticket sales are as strong as they've ever been, correct?

I mean its not like it's 1995 and they are a ton of empty seats everywhere.

Hell,I get judged on the bottom line in my business and if my revenue streams have been increasing every year I think I'd be pretty damn safe in my job.

The good thing is...Richt is going out with a 9/10 win season where we finished strong. We avoided some really embarrassing losses down the stretch and Richt held this team together and did all he could. It's just time for a change but at least Richt didn't go out 5-7 with losses to GSU and GT. Glass half full.

Not if you weren't hitting your goals, and there were some younger, hotshot businessmen willing to do your job for less money with the hope that they exceed your output.

So we're gonna spend less money on the new coach? You gotta link?Cause I'm HIGHLY doubtful of that statement.

Since all my "goals" ard tied to revenue,I believe I'd still feel safe.

Bottom line is that you can call it a business all you want but all the politics and administrators involved makes a HC job in the SEC far more complicated than call it just a "business"

But Richt's goals actually have little to nothing to do with revenue directly. Yet, he's still part of the business.

And that is the point. All of his goals are not tied to revenue. A HC is responsible for many, many things. One of which, if you fathom your program to be a top tier SEC, winning a championship more often than once a decade (recent history). And it is also not just the record, but how you lose and who you lose to. It is a tough job in a vicious profession.

It is a question of what you expect out of the program. Top tier SEC, he needed to go. Middle tier SEC, you keep him.

The competition was pulling away from him. That's usually enough to do it.

Just try to remember how you felt after upset losses to Spurrier, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Central Florida, Alabama, and Tech last year. I hope it's the right decision but staying this course was insanity. I thought changing OC would help but Richt simply replaced Bobo with an incompetent Bobo and gave him no quarterback.

Who?Auburn?GT?South Carlina?UT is really "pulling away from us" after they beat us at home after we were up on them by 3td's and we've won 4 straight?A case could be ade for UF but thay've pretty muched owned us the last 20 yeas anyway.Missouri? Are they really pulling away from us after this year?

You can put Bama in there but they've pretty much pulled away from the entire conference. (Yea,I know Ole Miss beat em 2 years in a row)

bad about what? The size of CMR's checking account? his lackadaisical approach to coaching? his staff strife?

Look do you really think he has enjoyed coaching the last 5 years? I don't. He checked out a few years ago.

You do realize that there are more teams in college football than those, right? UGA is now middle-of-the-pack in the weak sister division of its conference.

how could anybody feel bad?!?! CMR ran out of "one more chances" No doubt his first 7 or so seasons he brought UGA back into contention. But keeping Willie as long as he did was his downfall

I feel bad for all you suckers that think the administration is going to change its ways, when their first decision after firing Richt is likely to bring in two arrogant, boorish assholes to be the face of the program just because they spent their youth in Athens, also doing boorish assholish things, I might add.

If UGA was really about making this a better program, it goes out and finds a great head coach who will be able to handle the glare of the spotlight without acting like a pig. Nope, this is all just another example of good old boys and their egos running this so called business.
