We knew when he was hired he would need the stones to get rid of CMR if necessary.
It became necessary.
He did it.
Granted only half of the job has been done (he still needs to hire a great coach); yet he's put his a$$ on the line to do the tough job - fire CMR.
Don't get me wrong, I think he acted like a weasel today not answering tough questions in the presser- even still he's willing to do his job...
Now McGarity sucks. As much as I love the Dawgs, some of our rantfans simply cannot be satisfied.

He sucks because he handled it horribly. We need to make a change for the better, not just for change's sake. If we don't make a markable improvement, this is a bad firing. Right now, it looks like we're striking out on people who will make that difference to get us to the next level.

Plus, McGarity's public persona doesn't inspire much confidence.

Lol. What?
What evidence do you have that we've missed out in anyone let alone made an offer?

Just rumors but where there's smoke, there's fire.

I am waiting for it to play out. I'm being patient and supportive. But that doesn' mean the right thing is being done.

Brother, it's been 36 hours. Lot's of rumors this time of year. Let's see what takes place on Sunday after the championship games are over and see where we stand.

Seriously, how do we know we are striking out? Because Herman agreed in principle to Houston?

I agree. You're right. Just stressed and want the right decision to be made.

WTF?He's ALWAYS sucked!Have you seen what shape our major sports are in?

WTF did he do for CMR and the FB program?Who exactly denied Bobo's raise last year?

Who dragged his feet for years when it came to spending and keeping up with our rivals?

McGarity is an A1 weasel who has no business running an SEC athletic dept.

Everyone has hated McGarity from day one.

As Hunter Thompson said "The scum also rises."

Also, when it was reported that McGarity wanted to fire Richt after the 2014 season McGarity lied like the rat he is. McGarity has always had a bug in his arse for Richt.

If you look at the hiring that has been done in the athletic department since McGarity came to UGA, they are all uninspiring.

Just the fact that all these quote keep coming out about Smart as the "only choice" tells who what a bad AD he is. This decision was a made at least a month ago. UGA should have been scouring the country in search of a great coaching fit. Instead they went straight to the good old boy network and immediately said Kirby Smart- no HC experience? Great! he's out guy. Just piss poor management.

I'll admit, I thought he was a great hire and fit. UGA allegiance and UF experience ( the best ADept) in the country. That lasted about a year. We need a progressive exciting leader.

Fire ADGM ASAP!

( I thought another year for CMR was waranted, but I'm fine we made a change; but if we are gonna change , then let's start at the very top and get rid of ADGM as well )

At least you admitted it...

I also thought he was a good hire. Someone needed to be able to say goodbye to CMR. Not easy to do.

He did it though. Finally.

His career is, however, on the line now...his chance to hire a coach.

He has one chance. It will make or break his career.

I don't like the weasel- answer the questions a$$wipe.

However, he showed that he has stones. If he doesn't have a great coach in the wings or isn't able to hire one he's done.

He accepted his responsibility. This hire will make or break him.

AmIright?
