So if you have certain beliefs the police shouldn't protect you?

wow....who are the Nazi's again?

Time to get real.

If you really support that attitude you're asking for them to show up armed and ready for conflict at the next rally - which is what the agitators want. Stir the pot and send in the radicals to have an all out gunfight. Then focus on the white nationalists as the cause.

Once a major skirmish breaks out, then the government can step in and start legislating speech to protect the people from these hate mongers. They may even start locking up anyone that is part of the alt right....which can be made to be anything they want it to be.

Wake up.

Not at all the point I was making. I was saying that yes, people have the right to free speech without the threat of being locked up for what you say, but too many people think free speech entitles you to freedom from all consequences of what you say. If you want to go out on the street spewing Nazi type rhetoric, that's your right, but don't be surprised if someone clocks you right in the face.

Sounds like we've got a few folks who are...ahem...a bit sympathetic to the beliefs and objectives of these neo-Nazi/fascist/white supremacists groups and couching it as some sort of high minded concern about Constitutional rights to free speech.

I'm going to bet that when some left-wing group is marching/protesting, or if a member of an ethnic minority group suffers some kind of unjust treatment, you don't voice any concerns about their rights.

Not buying the "Nazis as victims" and "We're just trying to protect the free speech" b.s. Admit to your leanings and call it a day.

I'm hearing that several of the white supremacists that got punched this weekend have already submitted paperwork to try and adopt some abandoned black children.

You'd have thought the violence would have just made them mad and galvanized them further around their cause, but apparently those SJWs punch pretty hard.

My leanings? I'll tell you my leanings.

The law should apply equally to everyone. If you, Rachel Maddow or David Duke get attacked for any reason - especially when protesting - the perpetrators should get arrested. That's the way its supposed to work.

Its a convenient excuse to assume that I wouldn't care about violence against left wing protesters - because it keeps you from being honest with yourself that you condone violence as long as its the right kind of violence against the right kind of victim.

This is the same thought process that people have used to justify racism, genocide and slavery.

Congratulations.

I guess that's cool as long as you agree with the mob....

The only thing I'm "sympathetic" to is free speech and free assembly.

I know it's a bit of a foreign concept to those on the left these days.

Trump has emboldened white supremacy groups

He has. His campaign strategy was in part to play on fear and prejudice...and he had been doing so for many years (such as his nonsensical "birther" strategy years prior). David Duke put it best in his tweet yesterday: "We are determined to take our country back, We are going to fulfill the promises of Donald Trump. That's what believed in. That's why we voted for Donald Trump."

Trump intentionally appealed to these people as well as the more mainstream, closet bigots...which is why Trump is having to balance a fine line about calling them out. Duke is right; this is a part of his base. They love him for a reason!

Ummm...okay. Fox/Breitbart propaganda of the "violent left" running amuck.

only going to get worse

I hope these Nazi groups bring it on and we'll go back to the late 60's. Except this time, it will be much worse for them. Their goals are never going to be achieved through democratic means because the vast majority don't support them. So they have no recourse but to function as terrorist groups...and will be dealt with accordingly.

If the vast majority do not support them, then why not just let them look like idiots? What danger do the pose?

Nobody is making this point. My point was the police won't always be there to protect you. You can't expect to march around shouting your support for white supremacy and not expect people to get fired up and come at you.

Just to be clear: The only folks justifying racism, genocide, and slavery in this situation are the neoNazi and fascist groups. You need only read their manifestos...conveniently available online. The Alt-Right is quite clear in their beliefs and goals.

In WWII, we went all out to destroy fascism and the Nazis were the enemy. The American system is designed inherently to be anti-fascist. So...maybe there is a right and wrong opinion? Just sayin'...

WW2 wasn't our big stand against Fascism... we let it sit out there for a while before and supported Fascist regimes after. History is more than emotion...

Guys, this is bad. My mom accidentally washed my black antifa mask with the whites and it ruined the whole load!

I hope there's no white supremacist rallies to thwart this weekend cause I'm fricking grounded now!

Primarily due to free speech and equal protection under the law. But that must not apply to people that "deserve it" like white supremacists.

I guess you're safe as long as the mob and the media don't think you "deserve it".

You really need to take a break and think this through. You're smarter than this.

What happens when the violent mob of anti-protestors are turned loose on you and your group because you "deserve it"?
