Lovely article. I am firmly on the Bloomgren bandwagon now. Am I afraid of the offense slowing down? Yea, but next year this style is exactly what we need.

I found this to be the most interesting part
quote:
Bloomgren's recruiting territory for the Cardinal includes northern Florida (he's a native of Tallahassee) and south Georgia, allowing him to move into Mike Bobo's former territory. Bloomgren by the way was among the top ranked assistant coaches (third highest from a non-SEC school) in 247Sports' 2014 rankings of college recruiters, 8 spots ahead of Mike Bobo. He has a reputation as a great recruiter to back that ranking up, and has pulled highly-ranked recruits to Stanford from all over the country.

We need to offer him whatever it takes to get this shite done.

I fear that we will lose productivity, that Stanford was abysmal in the RZ this year, and that we will no longer be balanced. But, in addition to his ability to recruit and his brand name I have to say this is what is selling me
That is huge. Give Pruitt's guys rests, dictate pace of game, wear teams down. It's like what Bert does and even like what Paul Johnson does. But it's more sustainable. We had our thread on here weeks ago about how we wanted UGA to move to a Stanford look. I forget when or what thread it was in but we were all discussing how great it'd be THIS year to run Stanford's offense.
I'd hope when/if Eason arrives we light it up more but the idea of running this next year with Chubb and Michel? Jesus...It could be huge. Wear teams down and keep the defense fresh.

There's every reason to believe that the Red and Black would score fewer points under Bloomgren than they did under Mike Bobo. But if the Bulldog defense is allowed to stay fresh because the offense is chewing up clock and controlling field position, people might not complain. Well, they will, but at least they'll be complaining about something different.

I've been somewhat out of the fold so I'm catching up on all the OC candidates.
Bloomgren sounds like a good fit. I'd be curious to see the talent disparity on offense between Stanford and UGA to potentially reason why Stanford doesn't put up that many points on the regular.
I think if it is Bloomgren then it'll take a year or two to get back to putting up points like we did.

Big, big difference in the skill positions. Ty Montgomery is good as a WR but that's really it.

He supposedly he make around 500k. It's gonna take some change to get him here.

500 large goes a whole lot further in Athens than at Stanford.

He can coach either OL or qb.

What sort of changes are you thinking? Who would we get at QBC??
One interesting rumor I've heard is Charlie Ward

My thoughts exactly, Country. The O-philosophy is set. Whoever the OC is will just plug into the system, and hopefully won't get too cute on 3rd and goal. We need to fill the recruiting void that Bobo's departure leaves. We need to own South GA and North FL (maybe just rent North FL).

Wiki says Charlie is coaching his kid in HS in Pensacola. Maybe we offer his kid.

Hadn't thought of that, but its a great point. The Bay Area is one of the highest cost of living locations in the US. If we offered a 150k raise over what he made out there it'd be worth WAY more than just that.

So two coaches leave and we pull in one to cover the workload? That doesn't make sense...

Plus......the ground sits still in Athens.

I can't find myself getting excited about Bloomgren or Roper.
Ho hum hires at best. With the talent we have on the roster we should able to get just about anyone and going for these 2 says more about us than it does about them.

How proven is he at QBC? Did he coach Andrew Luck?
technically 2 coaches left, but 3 position coaches left because Bobo did OC and QBs. I think he is saying that Bloomgren could do OC along with one of the other 2 positions.
