I'm really sorry, Spiff. I know it sucks. It's hard to find positives in things like this, but I'm glad you got to see her again knowing what was coming. When I lost my mom in '13, it was sudden. Found her dead in her home and had just seen her two days before.

Godspeed, brother.

Sorry to hear that. Thoughts are with you and your family. I lost my mom to pancreatic cancer 5 years ago. She had one great weekend where she looked great and was in no pain. The next weekend she was gone. They say that happens a lot.

I still lurk from time to time...life is busy. Don't have time to spend all day on here like I use too.

Thanks to all of you for the kind words. This is an awesome group we have here.

That day was the worst. She was so coherent and talked normal. She passed as Dad was changing her dressing. That was almost unbearable for him. They were married 50 years this year. He visits her grave every day since she was buried on Wednesday.

He spent the night with me and the kids last night. Sat up talking a while but not about Mom. He's having a hard time staying in the house by himself...but he's gradually adjusting. I guess we all are. I miss Mom so much.

The Dash

Last year I spoke at two funerals. The first was my sisters and the second was my mothers. I started both by reading this poem "The Dash". Hope you enjoy, lots of truth in it I think.

My prayers are with you man. I have a mom who was nothing but what I needed, amazing individual who supported me unbelievably and aided in my growth in hardness and in love. She has alzheimers and is now in a facility that I hate. NO choice. I wish I could do more for she is unable to stay in our home for her constant anger issues that only come with the disease. I am very hurt by the situation, but only can trust in God for I am powerless.

Prayers... Man!
