Like I said, wait a few days and join the Disney train. You seem happy with 9-3 and SEC east crowns. More power to you.

Do your own research about GA's rep for softness. The info is there.

Yep, this team defensively lacks discipline. Again, a long standing Richt trait.

There are 10 or so teams who have a realistic shot at a natty. GA hovers around the periphery. I want to see the program squarely in the mix every year.

Sorry, spare me your righteous indignation on behalf of the players. Been there, done that, in the sports arena, just not football in college. Some guys show up, some guys play to win. A lot of it falls on the coaches. Some guys have so much talent that they simply don't have the drive to get better -- absent outside motivation.

5 yards from winning what? A SEC championship. What about 2007? If we just had the breaks. Same excuse almost every year. The argument reminds me of guys who complain about refs.

Didn't you know that you can trade in unused scholarships for ranking positions at the end of the season? Dude, our coaching staff is playing 12th dimensional chess against a bunch of guys playing checkers. All we have to do is finish in the top 15, do the trade, and boom - title.

Any excuse can be made as to why our defense has been so bad, but the fact of the matter is that CTG had high expectations placed upon him when he was hired and he is getting a very hefty paycheck for what he's put on the field. Regardless as to why he hasn't lived up to those expectations, he hasn't lived up to them, so something needs to change, and fast.

When CMR was on the hotseat after his first really abysmal season, he turned it around right away and we were contenders for the SEC again. I'm expecting something similar from CTG. It starts by seeing this defense start knocking some heads and swatting some balls. I want to see some turnovers and game-changing plays. I want to see that 3rd down conversion percentage drop and PPG drop by 10 points a game or more.

He's got to do something more than he's been doing. We could be paying a lot less for the same results. I want to see more.

You're looking at this all wrong, dude - he's got a government job and you're expecting results?

lol yeah.. it might be different if he had a track record with our team of fielding great defenses and he's just had a couple of "down" years. But that's not the case.

CTG sucks we all know this now. The reason we got him was because a lot of people expected RIcht to get fired in 09, he fired Senor Martinez and crew and saved his arse. No DC worth a damn wanted to come here because they thought Richt would get canned soon. Now that he's somewhat turned it around people can see that Richt and Bobo handle the offense and our defense sucks. I really think that if Richt made a move now on the DC side we could get a good young DC ready to make a move because the water is more calm.

I don't know enough about the inner workings of the Longhorn program to be able to answer this myself: Was Diaz truly the problem, or was it Old Man Brown trying to throw folks under the bus to save his own hide?

Are things this bad on here when we win???

My brain tells me to stay outta this thread, but it's like watching a car accident, you cant turn away.

Claydawg and the guy who started this thread have no clue about how a defense works, and how defenses get better over time. This is real football, not a video game.

It don't take a fricking Nick Saban Football Savant to know that a unit is going to get better over time....if they regressed there would be something seriously wrong. The trouble with getting better with time is that every unit they face is also getting better with time....UF's offense is more efficient now than it was yesterday....saying they are working harder to get better is like saying the sun is going to come up in the morning and it having some impact on the teams defensive performance. It seems that what Grantham is saying is "frick ya'll, I am doing my job...my team is working at getting better and that is all anyone has a right to ask of us". That is some ole bullshite right there....what about having the defense performing at mid season fashion by, I don't know, MID SEASON????? Is that too much to ask???

No. This year was the tell-all for grantham.

frick that...last year was the year...we were fricking loaded with NFL Talent and we had no clue against the run. Not a clue. Alabama made our defense their bitch and it cost us the natty that we crave as a nation. frick Grantham...the bastard has an oversized ego even for a football coach. You don't force players into a system you form a system around the players you have. That shite works in the NFL because you can buy players like cattle but at this level you are going to have to play some kids who aren't at the top of the heap talent wise....and you gotta bend the system to accomodate that....you can't say "I am running a 3 4" when you have a 290 lb nose tackle becuase that little motherfricker is going to get rolled time and again in a 60 minute game. You also can't expect a 5'8 safety to go man on man with a 6' 6 wide receiver who has a step on the safety to boot and expect good things to happen. If you have this problem you have to either give him some help or you gonna have to pressure the QB which we ain't doing with linebackers standing around confused and three down linemen rushing the passer. So yeah, it is tiime for Grantham to either coach what he has UP or get the frick outta the classic city....that fat prick is the sole reason we didn'y win the natty last year and he has cost us a shot again with his inability to utilize what talent he has and mitigate the talent gaps.....

Agree with all of this but in Grantham's defense we aren't nearly as talented in the Secondary as last season...... no wait..... he is responsible for recruiting on defense. Never mind.

Yes, and we would have cleaned ND clock as well.

Same excuse almost every year.

Tell what's your answer??? Because our time will come sooner our later, we just have to catch a few breaks like ANY NC team. 100+ teams would die to be in our position.
