He landed as the defensive coordinator at North Texas, and seems to be happy there despite a resume that includes stops at several major college programs.

In an interview with North Texas Daily, Ekeler took a shot at a former Georgia colleague - or colleagues.

“I’ve worked at some of the greatest schools history-wise in the game,” Ekeler said. “But what it boils down to is people. You can be at the University of Georgia and be miserable if you’re working with shi**y people. I really enjoy my work environment and the players here.”

edit: corrected is name

He said he was mis-quoted on his twitter account, but the tweet is gone now.

Linebacker coach under Pruitt.

Good coach.

Pruitt is a snake oil salesman.

Ekeler knew it.

I thought it was pretty apparent, especially considering your knowledge for UGA football.

Ek was awesome. Good coach. According to Jake Rowe at 247, the last year under Richt was very clique-ish among the coaches and Ekeler was seemingly caught in the middle of it. I think most people could tell there was friction among the staff last year. Probably was a pretty toxic by the end.

I was replying to the op and deeprig...not you, Led. I figured you were asking sarcastically. I suppose I didn't use my "parse" key effectively.

I'd like to know all the dirty details of what happened in those offices that year.

I'm sure most, if not all of it was instigated by Pruitt, but I'd like to know just how bad and devisive it got.

Just reading between the lines...Ekler was hired by Richt but didn't know anyone else on staff. Ekler was a Richt guy. There was probably a lot of friction between the offensive staff(Richt) and the defensive staff(Pruitt). If Ekler is a Richt guy that puts him in a tough spot.

Ekeler didn't get fired. He quit before the bowl game. Guess he wasn't to concerned for his players.

Remember when Richt paid his own way to visit Eason during the season?

Everyone always claims to have been misquoted or had it "taken out of context".
