He's one of the few on the SEC network I actually paid attention too. He's douchey for sure...but he's an insightful douche.

McElroy is the most astute college football commentator on any of the ESPN networks. Lambert is probably the starter.

He's probably one of the most knowledgable guys on there. He's annoying but his content is generally pretty good. And I hated him at first but he's since grown on me.
If Mark Richt were to name Lambert the starter, would you also say that he doesn't know shite?

He's the trendy pick, especially for people who just briefly glance at the situation. Ramsey's bowl performance is being used against him a lot even though he could only see out of one eye. Not saying he's going to step in and be an All-American or All-SEC guy this year, but it's rash to look at his bowl game and totally write him off. I still think it's his to lose.

I like McElroy but I think you are right Crispy he's the flashy cool pick right now. Ramsey is going to secure this starting position over fall camp and hopefully have a very strong season

I thought Mason was the one who was QBing as Popeye, requiring Ramsey to come in cold off the bench...

McElroy is one of the best the SEC Network has. Having met him a few times and talked some football, he is overwhelmingly knowledgeable regarding what goes on every Saturday on the field. It's what made him so successful during his playing days. I like to listen to him on the First Team on Sirius/XM channel 91 every morning since he is the only one in the industry that has any real football acumen.
I do think that he is saying that Greyson Lambert gets the starting nod largely based on his conversations with David Pollack and his connections in Athens. Pollack seems convinced that Richt went and got Lambert to have him as his starter this year. Personally, I don't think we have any bad options at the position; just zero experience and a new OC are scarry unknowns for fans as a whole.

Lambert is the only person on the team with any real live experience that wasn't garbage time for his team. That being said, he comes with just as many question marks as the rest with his poor showing. He was a former 4 star recruit so it's not like he was just some scrub arm we brought in.

In fairness, it's not that GL11 doesn't have zero experience as a starting QB - he just doesn't have any experience as a starting UGA/SEC QB. A world of difference, to be sure, but worth a Devil's Advocate moment.

How much of last season did you actually watch?

Mason got popped pretty hard and was seeing double. Ramsey had a sty in his eye which basically limited him to the use of just one eye, which obviously kills ones depth perception.

Aha. I hadn't heard that about Ramsey during the bowl game.

Are you seeing something that I'm not seeing or are we counting the one game he was thrust in as his live experience that wasn't garbage time?

no...and that is the whole point I have always made...CMR is the one who will ultimately decide...as he is the one who has the best pulse on the situation...and his job depends on it...if he sees something in GL that puts BR on the bench...so be it...but I still think BR starts and the Ginger...and David Pollack are wrong...

Gentry Estes, in his post-bowl report, mentioned that he had a sty (basically an eyelid infection) that was really noticeable in the post game interviews.

I don't think BR's time last year was garbage...the bowl game was not the only time he took the field...has he been "the guy"?...no...but he has more experience in red and black and in the program than GL...that can not be refuted...and I think HE has the edge because of it
I'm still trying to figure out why this guy left UVA anyway...

He tossed a grand total of 39 passes last season. Some QB's throw more passes than that in 1 game. So to say he has experience especially in comparison to Lambert is silly. He didn't even see a series unless it was a garbage team or we felt comfortable. Just look at the teams he actually got playing time vs. They were at best the worst teams on our schedule.

For a chance to start, his GF goes to UGA, he is from Georgia, He already graduated. Just to name a few.
