I think he gets, and deserves, both. Too bad KS is heading to SF!

Yeah, I don't understand why he would leave Falcons and all the weapons he has to go to the dumpster fire that is the current state of the SF 49ers.
He should wait it out and try to see if a job opens up next year where he actually has a QB and some offensive weapons. He will be fired in 5 years if he leaves. Mark it.

There's got to be someone on the staff that can keep the system in place; hell it took us a season and a half to figure it out it would really suck to have to start from scratch again.

Yeah, I'm not too worried. If you read Arthur Blanks quote about it he basically said we are better this year because Shannahan finally started to listen to Matt and others about how to run the offense. However, his play calling this year has been wonderful. Other than a few times that he has gotten pass happy in the red zone, I haven't really complained at all about his play calling.
quote:
“I think Kyle has focused hard on being inclusive this year (with) the other players and coaches,” Blank told ESPN. “He’s focused on that. He’s focused on being a good listener and trying to understand where they were coming from. Kyle is a brilliant offensive mind and a great play-caller. Part of being good at any position of leadership in life is being a good listener and understanding where other people are coming from. That just makes you better. I think he got better this year in that regard. And I think he and Matt were more on the same page this year than they’ve been in the past.”

Got room for one more?
I need a team to root for since, well you know.

I honestly dont see Kyle taking the San Francisco job unless he just wants to be a HC now. The owner is all up in everyone's business, and they have no GM. With his demeanor, he needs an organization that will let him be himself and will allow him to surround himself with people he thinks he can succeed with. Thats definitely not San Francisco. If he has one more good year as OC he could foreseeably go to Chicago, Minnesota, Carolina, Indianapolis, Houston, or Cincinnati. Those are all better jobs than San Francisco.

Only front office more cancerous than San Fran is probably Buffalo and that's highly arguable

Cleveland is worse because Jimmy Haslam is too meddling (such as the decision to trade up and draft Manziel).
ETA: Shanahan's play calling has been phenomenal this year. The touchdown pass to Coleman against Seattle was a perfect example. Julio ran a drag underneath to get the linebackers to come down, Sanu ran a post route to divert the safety's attention, and Coleman was all alone in the corner of the end zone. Of course, that isn't possible without good blocking from the offensive line. Was Alex Mack the best free agent signing in franchise history?

That may be a true statement. When they signed a center, I was partialy meh, but he made one helluva difference.

I think you are right. He would be better off moving after next season, IF the Falcons O can replicate 2016. But every indication if that he is gone (quote - he is excited about the 49ers). I think the others dropping out know he is the guy. He will have input in who is the new GM, but it will be a tough row to hoe.

It's either Mack or Warrick Dunn, IMO
