They very well could have balked at giving him whatever he asked for. No one knows any details! What if he demanded 2M per year? Everything is based on hearsay and whatever their brother's janitor has on good authority. Two weeks ago, Pruitt's office was cleaned out and Richt was nursing a black eye from the fight on his front lawn the night before.

So much on this board is pure overreaction, and making judgments about stuff that no one can confirm or deny is just mind boggling to me.

Why the hyperbole?

It was a Sunday morning, and Pruitt did nothing more than show up at Richt's house and call him out. Richt hid in his wife's closet while the water girl talked Pruitt down.

No black eyes.

That's how rumors get started.

See even I get a little worked up. Thanks for bringing me back down to earth with facts, HRD.

We all do. And you are welcome.

*looks around*

Psst!

*waves you in*

The word on the skreet is that the water girl got her degree, and that the missionary work is happening sooner rather than later.

Anyhow, I think that if UGA lets him go they need to have a strong plan in place and basically an agreement in principle with an appropriate candidate and not get left out in the cold and hire a worse coach than LSU and USC do, setting us further behind. LSU is really going to screw themselves if they drop Miles and hire the first guy who picks up the phone. I think there are very few suitable replacements for Richt or Miles.

I truly believe Richt getting another year comes down to Saturday at GT...IF we win..then he stays, if we lose, then I truly believe he "steps down".

There's so much nonsense on this board. If we lose to Tech, that may be enough for the dam to burst.

But even if not, Richt will be gone after next season. We'll get some great players in this current (last) recruiting class but we will have some serious issues to contend with next season, even if Eason plays great for a true freshman. The record next season and support that's been eroding for years will finally be the end. Plus, the financials will make more sense.

There are some people engaged in these conversations who don't seem to get that the UGA administration doesn't share the view that football is more important than the overall integrity of the institution, including its academic standing, which has increased very much thanks to Hope and other factors. If the football program is generating pretty good revenue and fields reasonably competitive teams in order to keep up the interest of fans, that meets the goals for the administration.

Kathryn Richt finishes nursing school next year per Schlabach. I know they want to do mission work but it may not be his time to go. I'm gonna wait and see how we come out against tech. If we fall flat against them I'm going on level orange Richt gone mode.

Even if we lose saturday, I'm not sure our administration would make a move.

The only time richt has truly, honestly been in jeopardy was going into 2011 where he was told he needed to win 9 games. We were coming off an 8-5 and 6-7 season. We won 10 and the east so there ya go. Currently, we're coming off 12-2, 8-5, 10-3, and (potentially with loss) an 8-4 regular season.

Also, and this is me speculating here with absolutely no real knowledge, but it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if our AD decided to hold off since USC, SC, VT, Miami, and maaaaybe LSU will all be looking for coaches too.

I doubt he'll be fired this season so it's not worth me even talking about. But personally I'm of the opinion that if we dont' win the SEC or make a BCS bowl in 16 he needs to go.

Yeah but I read that his lawn service contract ends in December. That has to play into this whole situation too, right?

Even with a second straight loss to Tech, ultimately the "no real quarterback and lost the team's star running back" will carry the day as the justification to retain.

But it will only add fuel for next season, after which point Richt and the school will amicably part ways. It will come down to whether Richt really wants the $3M he would have coming to him under a termination, or if he would rather save face (but lose 2/3 of that) by resigning.

There's always the one in a thousand chance that Eason develops so quickly that it transforms the dynamics and the team is suddenly in the mix for the SEC. But frankly, Richt would have been moving on in the next few years no matter what. He wants to do something in his life beyond being a football coach.

That's true, but my sources say that he's already signed a new landscaping contract with Chucky's My-T Cuts. That kind of kills that play. Word is, its a ten year deal with a $10 trillion buyout. Only LSU alum would be dumb enough to buy that out.

Look **** I'm just letting people on this board what I heard from a credible source. I understand there's a lot of speculation, but any info from a good source is something to read about

It's an excuse...but it does hold water.

Those issues should be fixed next year and there will be far more clarity on the future direction of the program.

Problem is, most fans will think its Natty or bust and want him gone anyhow...even if say we won the east and lost a close one to the eventual national champs.

If he stays, wins the east, loses a close one to the eventual NC, and wins the bowl....I'll go into Richt hibernation. I swear.

I think the best move at this point is to give Richt one more year. Get what is an otherwise outstanding class in, have your QB of the future in place along with a solid OL and DL and some good skill players and RB options. Let 2016 play out and then make a move. Leaves the cupboard fully stocked for the next guy, the IPF finished, and we don't have to get into a bidding war with the likes of USCw, LSU, potentially FSU, Texas, USCe, Va Tech, etc. It's a wholesale fresh start and puts the program in the best position to move on.
