Is not conducive to staying employed at UGA. Kirby certainly has dug himself a deeeeeeeppppppp hole which will only be overcome by a SEC title in year 3. You simply can't lose to GT and VANDY and stay at UGA long, period,......I don't care how badly the cards are stacked against you you gotta beat Vandy no matter what and you gotta beat GT when they are in Athens...period, end of story. You can lose to Florida, Auburn or UT and USC and stay at UGA a long time but you gotta beat GT and Vandy....

The bright side...we aren't looking at a 7-10 year trial period....that has been reduced to 3 years...we win the SEC by year 3 or this loss to GT ends the Kirby Smart era....even the most apathetic boosters who matter won't put up with losing to GT....

Ya losing to Tech sucks....losing to Tech like we did this past Saturday is fricking terrible.

What a complete meltdown by the team and coaches.

All I can say is we better win our fricking bowl game or the mood headed into the off season will be less than shitty.

It got Donnan fired. I sometimes wonder what would have been had he not been the recipient of some bad calls and had kept his job. The man could run and offense.

Yep, the defense, which has been our strength most of the season, was particularly disappointing in giving up 2 TD's at the end of the game. Still, when the offense turns the ball over and gets FG's instead of TD's, that is what can happen against as strong offensive team like GT. I just don't see that this loss was on the coaches. The coaches didn't throw inaccurate passes, or drop passes or make a high snap on a FG attempt or allow a TD every time GT got in our redzone. Players have to take responsibility for their failed execution on the field.

Dude. They were coming out of a timeout. Smart knew exactly what play was being run. That one isn't on Chaney. That was on Kirby.

It still shouldn't have been a problem, frankly.

Not my favorite call by any means, but it was an easy completion.

Mark Richt did all of those things. He didn't knock the pass down against Auburn. he fumbled at the 1 yard line against Tech twice. He dropped a perfect pass against Tennessee in 2015. So, are you saying the coaches didn't do all those things? because this board said Richt did all of them.

Maybe I misunderstood. Richt did them, but Kirby didn't. Maybe that's where I got it wrong.

Yes. It should have. You do not throw a pass when you are running the ball well with less than 4 minutes left on the clock. You run the ball two more times, and let the clock run. If you don't make the first down you punt the ball and they take over somewhere around their 20 yard line with less than 2 minutes on the clock....probably about a minute and a half. Tech passes the ball well ONLY when nobody expects them to pass.

It's 1 loss to Tech. Step away from the ledge.

I'll wait to see how the team looks in September until I start building up my ammo on Smart.

It got Donnan fired after losing to Tech and Florida and Tennessee year after year after year.

I love year one threads like this because it shows how little perspective people actually have.

Ok, dude. Can we let Richt go? You've been the only one on here CONSTANTLY bringing him up. It's tired and played out. Find a new soapbox to stand on.

I did.

I merely pointed out that when when players did not do their jobs, Richt was blamed. Now it is the players fault and not the coaches. I'm just looking for any kind of consistency out of people.

Smart is getting a lot of criticism. I don't know where you're getting the idea that he isn't.
