Another nugget? the year before Alabama went 7-6, too.
Don't get me wrong, since you didn't read the entire thread...I disagree with the sentiment of the thread. Kirby will need more time. A LOT more time. But a lot of the problems we are seeing can be directly traced back to the coaching staff. He is a first year HC, though. he will have to get more talent on the field, and he will have to learn and grow.

CKS has 3 years imho...if after the 2018 season we aren't vastly improved...I say show him the door and find someone else...

I would actually give him 4, but if no improvement is shown after three, I could go along with 3. We should see improvement next year.....even if it is slight.

Somebody posted a site. I honestly don't know how reliable the site was. Only time will tell if they are drafted or not. But to say they are garbage is way off base.

I just did a brief scan of draft sites and neither have a draftable grade, granted those aren't the most reliable. David Andrews wasn't drafted though, so I have a hard time seeing how Kublanow especially would be.

In terms of me forming my opinion, I don't think Catalina has been as bad as people have said. I do think Kublanow has been getting worked pretty good.

and that was his 12th season as a head coach!!!!

Saban in his first ever head coaching gig actually did really well winning 9 games, albeit at a crap school in a crap league.

After 1 year he went to the "big leagues" and got a job at Michigan State. He would go 6-5-1, 6-67-6, 6-6 in his first 4 years there. If that was now instead of the mid-late 90s before internet/social media was all the rage he never would be where he is today. Oh btw his first year at LSU? 8-4 with a loss to UAB. First year at bama...7-6 with loss to ULM.

People just need to realize that no human being was coming into this 2016 roster and winning 11 or 12 games. It's just not realistic.

I can't find anything either, honestly. The only thing I can find is first round projections. I DID find one (CBS) that did not have either of them being drafted, but i don't know how good CBS would be.

I did see that Greg Pyke was projected as first rounder, which surprised me.

I don't see it. More like 3-4th round imo.

Nobody was expecting 12 wins. We were ALL expecting 8-9 wins, though. And think about it. A couple of breaks and we could be 6-1 and we would all be talking about what good talent we had. Perceptions about talent are colored by a teams record.....USUALLY.

Things change a lot between now and then, so he could drop to 3rd or 4th. Who knows. I have a hard time projecting to the NFL. People I think are sure fire flop...and people I think will flop seem to do well. Dak Prescott is have a better year than I thought he would. I thought Dave Rimington would be a killer. same for Brian Bosworth.

I am not the most reliable judge of NFL talent.

That may be true for some people, but there was a good bit of noise about the roster before this season.

I don't remember that. I am not disputing you. There's a lot of stuff I don't remember at my age.

What I DO remember is everybody saying
1. We get Nick Chubb back
2. With Holyfield and Herrien we are deeper at RB
3. Eason is much better than Lambert....or should be.
4. ANYBODY is better than Schottenheimer
5. Pruitt was good, but not worth the turmoil he brings.
6. We will not get blown out on the National Stage
7. We probably will not win the East, but we could sneak into it....probably will be third.

It was time to fire a 10 win a year coach?

Ok.

Now we are stuck with a 6 win a year coach.

Hope you are satisfied.

You haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about. Not the faintest.

People also talked about:

1. OL that was bad a year ago replacing two starters.
2. A freshman QB
3. Chubb may not be all the way back
4. WR a serious question
5. A DL comprised almost entirely of true freshmen and sophomores.
6. Pass rush may be an issue after losing Floyd and Jenkins.

Those were clear warning signs.

Good bit?C'mon...I didn't hear a soul on this decrying our lack of talent in the secondary and almost all agreed with how talented but inexperienced our LB's were. The D'line was thought to be talented but very thin..O-line and WR's were concerns

And there wasn't ONE freakin person on here talking about the "worst roster in 20 years" or the "worst roster of the 2000's" this summer. All these amazing new talent scouts didn't start coming out of the woodwork until the Kirby ship started sinking.

True....but Pittman! (I like him by the way..just saying what was being said)

2. A freshman QB

Still better than lambert.

3. Chubb may not be all the way back

He was closer than any of us had hoped.

4. WR a serious question

Yep. And it is.

5. A DL comprised almost entirely of true freshmen and sophomores.

Yes, again. But has done better than expected.

I thought Carter would develop better/faster than he did. I honestly thought we would be much better here.
It does seem to have improved the past 3-4 games to me, though. Slow. But improvement. I noticed Roquon and Carter getting some sacks and making the QB hurry more. I don't know if they are finally getting it, or the scheme has changed.

Yet, in spite of all that, we all expected 8-9 wins. Look. The wins don't bother me so much as much as some of the decision making, the preparedness, intensity, clock management etc.

Honestly? In some ways the clock management thing bothers me as much as anything, because I see no improvement at all. I mean, I know it is inexperience, but you have to learn. If one of the players made the same mistakes over and over again, what would Kirby do?

Bs. Folks discussed the negative effects of the 2013 class before game 1 this year. Having to grab a guy from Rhode Island was known way before game 1. Having little talent at db and 1 upperclassmen at dl was also known before game 1. We knew we wouldn't be awesome at qb either.
