Richt lost at least one game every season he shouldn't have. And his teams would come up small in big moments. Once you accept that as true, you know that he will never get Georgia a Championship. It was time to move on.
I'm confused. This year we have lost and played close a couple of games we should have won easily, and we lost to Ole Miss on the big stage. Are you saying Smart can't get us to the next level?
I am for giving Smart a little bit longer. 3-4 years longer.

If I were you, I'd look into that crystal ball of yours that is obviously allowing you to see into the future and see which stocks you need to buy, etc. After all, you have it in writing that he will only win six games a year from here on out.

I've not seen anybody on this board argue that Richt should have stayed. I am amused by people continuing to try to make a case that he should have been fired. That's a point hat has been belabored ad nauseum. We all know that it was time for Richt to go. The discussion is about Smart...not about whether Richt should have been fired. that happened last year. We need to discuss what is going on now.

Sometimes I miss the old DR days where we could handle shitty posters.

1st thing Kirby said "we gotta get better talent". So let's see if he does that. year 3-4 will tell the tale. Until then, I'm supporting Kirby and my Dawgs

TL;DR. Just came to down vote. ??

Well, honestly, every coach is going to say that. If they don't do well, then it was the talent. if they have a good year, then, they did it with inferior talent.
We have plenty of talent to beat Vanderbilt. We do not have enough talent to contend with Alabama. I DO agree that we give Kirby 3-4 years and see if we get improvement. That will give him time to get experience and his own players.

The ONLY new coach I heard that didn't say something simaliar was Dennis Erickson when he took the Miami job.He knew the team was loaded

This is a dumb thread. Richt went 6-7 with a freshman qb and lost to freaking ucf. In 2008 he had Stafford, Moreno and A.J. Possibly the most talented team he had and got man handled by Bama and Florida, then turned around and lost to freaking GT. Miami needs fans and they just lost to the same UNC team that Georgia beat. Kick rocks.

Why is it not ok to criticize poor coaching on here?
Last year we were told that we were the problem. That we were willing to settle for mediocrity. Now we want better and we are the problem and should go be Miami, fans? And who brought Richt up in this thread? Just about every single person in here has said that it was time for Richt to go, yet you want to turn it into a Richt supporters verses Kirby supporters?
I don't care for the content OR the sentiment of the thread. But nowhere in that OP did he say we need Richt back.

No one other than you apparently thinks that. I have read plenty of comments from Peter Buck and others criticizing Smart's coaching. And objectively, obviously the product on the field for every team is a combination of coaching and the talent level of the players. But in Smart's defense, he is a first year HC inheriting a team that was recruiting by our very popular former HC, Richt. I can easily see why he might be struggling to motivate players many of whom are disappointed that CMR was fired.

Then you need to reread. I just did and did not see one mention of Richt in the OP.
Or perhaps some of you think if you criticize Kirby Smart, it is all about Richt?

Seriously? Read all over the place. if somebody criticizes Kirby Smart they are told to go be a fan of Miami. (Never mind that Richt, nor Miami was ever mentioned) Look one post above yours, then take a look at the original post, and you will see what I mean. As I said...i don't agree with thesentiment, at all. But nobody wants to address points being made. They just want to criticize the poster.

And he has been called names, criticized and harassed for doing so. hence, my comment...why is it not ok to criticize poor coaching on this board?

That's the last line of the OP.

CRAP! I read every line but the last one, apparently!
Ok. So. Now, can we address his points? Do you honestly believe we have gotten good coaching...even for a first year head coach?
I was a HUGE supporter of Mark Richt. But I had come to feel like it was time for him to move on. I hated it, but it was time.
However, he wrote an entire dissertation and the one thing anybody wants to address is the last line? I disagree with the entire sentiment that the staff is a disgrace. And....it has nothing to do with Richt.

The OP ruined a potentially good post with a bad title and the last line.
We are not very good right now. Not one part of the team. We can improve. I think this team is still in transition, Kirby is still learning, and maybe we hit bottom finally. I hope all of them spend two weeks fuming and working their arse off. Nothing would cure what ails the dawgnation like beating gator arse

Ok. I was a Richt supporter, but some here do not want to address the main sentiment of this thread. They only want to zero in on the last line and make this about mark Richt.
So, let me help them to understand that this staff can be defended without throwing dirt all over the best coach this school has ever had.
1) I like the way this staff has gotten the TE's involved with the offense. Our TE's are our stronges unit other than RB, and we now use them in new blocking schemes and in the passing game.
2) I like the play where we flare the FB out into the flat. It puts tremendous pressure on the LB's and has been very effective.
3) I see improvement in the OL from week to week. Perfect? no. We have several playing out of position, but all in all, I feel like we have gotten pretty decent OL play. Spotty, but not bad, either.
4) I like that our staff has invigorated the fan base. They have brought a new excitement. it might be waning at the moment, but lets get a couple more wins under our belt, and the excitement will return.
5) Our defense seems to be improving and playing with more enthusiasm each week. it is slow progress, but progress nonetheless.
6) Our pass rush has improved the past couple of weeks. It's been a slow, but steady progress. I think the staff is beginning to understand how to use Lorenzo Carter. he has gotten some sacks, and put pressure on the QB lately.
7) Our secondary seems to be improving. I'm not sure if it is because the teams we are facing are weaker passing teams, or the coaches are scheming better.
Is this coaching staff perfect? far from it. Are they a Disgrace? Hardly. They are young. They are learning. We wanted immediate results and that is on us. It will take time.
