So per Richt, Marshall took off this knee brace for the first time since his ACL injury. I assume this means his confidence is back and that would explain his performance against Kentucky, where he looked very close to the Marshall we remember.
This would be a good thing going forward, especially for next season since Chubb probably won't be back at the start. Sony needs a real backup. Douglas is a bruiser but he isn't the answer.

Marshall is going to have to have a big day on Saturday if we're going to beat Auburn. Sony and Godwin in the Wildcat alone aren't going to do it. Need a bruiser with some speed.

Does Marshall have another year? For some reason I thought this was it.

He can apply for a extra year/medical redshirt. He should qualify with no problems.

That's what I was wondering. I think he got the medical redshirt last year.

Marshall limped off the field toward the end for the game yesterday favoring his right leg which is the same side as his previous knee injury.

quote:Can Godwin throw the ball well? I know he was a good baseball player so I would assume he can a little bit, if he can't then there's no reason to continue running that formation if we're going to be as one dimensional as we were yesterday with it.
Sony and Godwin in the Wildcat alone aren't going to do it.

I've never seen anybody throw a pass out of the Wildcat formation....ever. I'm sure it has been done, just that I've never seen it.
As for his being a baseball player.....throwing a football and throwing a baseball is totally different. I am guessing you mean that since he was a good baseball player he could be athletic enough?

Where in the hell did you hear anything about this....or you just making a piece of shut assumption trying to sound clever?
Everything I've heard says they plan for him to be back and ready to play to start the season

I would like to see us playing a more athletic QB but Godwin is probably a bit small for this role at 5'11" 180 lb For comparison, Nick Marshall was 6'1" 207 lb when recruited. The one play that every offense should be adding is when an athletic QB roles out and is a threat to run, pitch out or pass. This forces outside containment to come up to defend the run inevitably leaving receivers open. Even a little 5 yard pass to a reliable receiver is better than plowing into the other team's front 7 who are loading the box.

He is serviceable as far as wildcat athletes go. He was drafted more as an outfielder athlete in baseball but I've seen highlights of him in high school where he turned some throws loose. I wouldn't trust him doing it more than once a game though at this level.
This type of play would be a nice wrinkle with Godwin, Sony, and then i-mac as a receiver option.

Guess you don't watch a lot of football because it happens pretty damn frequently. shite, the team that made the wildcat prevalent, Arkansas, had Darren McFadden throw plenty of times.
As someone said, Gurley threw our longest pass of the year from it. You have definitely seen it happen and seen it happen multiple times.

Boykin at TCU was a DB or WR before they converted him to QB. If Godwin can throw the football, why not play him and lets see what happens? What's the worse that can happen. No Florida bowl, maybe Nashville?

It's really the only way it can work great. Arkansas passed well off of it under nutt.

I am confident, there is a run/pass option out of it.

Boykin, Nick Marshall, DMac. At this point you are basically just running read option, not even wildcat, so why not let Godwin give it a whirl

Riiight... He tore three ligaments and had cartilage damage. You think he's going to be 100% and ready to go 10 months after the injury? Don't count on it.
