In a truly bizarre scene, during a lengthy version of “Turn on Your Lovelight,” Hampton toppled over. He laid prone on the stage for several minutes as John Popper played harmonica and Warren Haynes and others laughed at the apparent stunt. But it wasn’t a joke. Hampton had suffered a fatal heart attack.

WTF is wrong with people these days?

Have we become so immune to find humor in death?

Worried about pre-existing conditions.

Life is a conditional pre-existence.

He was well known as a joke star. He was always pulling antics on stage. No one actually thought he was dead.

I get the jokester part, just saying when people die they are pretty still, as opposed to where you can see their chest moving when they are faking dead. When folks die in front of you it is a different sounding thud when they hit the floor. Also, often times at death the bowels relax and you piss or poop yourself.

I dont think this was an acoustic, singer/songwriter type event cheese.

Would be hard to hear or smell anything i would assume. and it was an encore so they were just shredding hard im sure. add in the fact that the dude pulled shite like that all the time and it makes sense.

Lying prone you won't see their chest moving the same because of the weight. And there's a concert going on, it's not like you're up close doing an actual exam on them. And prone would make it hard to see one piss themself. And plenty of people don't shite when they die.

All in all, it's a very Col Bruce thing to happen and nobody involved was in the wrong at all.

Gotcha, thanks for the clarification

Still just a bit ticked off from and event from the other day when a dude was pretty busted up and folks were laughing about it behind me. It is a different world when you are focused on getting medical help and the younger set are just taking pictures to send to their friends.

You couldnt write a better ending for your own demise than to go out like the Col did - jamming with your friends doing what you love. That shite is poetic.

And there is some irony in the manner in which he died....in that all of his friends just thought the whole thing was part of his act. Crazy stuff.

Andy would be pushing 70, is Jefferson that old?

I thought he was a young whippersnapper like 40's or 50's
