I think the Vols dropped a couple of interceptions also.

It's incredible that Lambert played so poorly after setting the NCAA single-game completion percentage record. Maybe his brain only works against USCe.

They were 3-9 last year...

Yes, USCe sucked arse in 2015 and I hope for more of the same in 2016.

Also, Lambert's record was aided by a number of great catches by our receivers. Malcolm Mitchell made several almost impossible catches in that game.

I hope Eason has a great preseason leaving Kirby with no doubt about the starter. Eason needs a lot of game experience before SEC play.

It's easy to say it could have been 18, but that's just wanting to slam the guy.

The truth is UGAs line underperformed , period. The loss of Will Friend was huge.

Look at GLs stats which were 5th in the SEC as was the rushing offense.Compare it to Coker at Alabama , their stats were almost the same, the difference more YACS and more attempts , which tells you protection broke down. Look at the 4 teams above UGA in passing, Bama, Ark, Miss St, OM; all great line play , UGA very poor line play.

Eason is the future, and the future is coming very soon. But as I said earlier you may have to start EH. JE is as talented ( physically ) as it gets but your asking a lot for a true freshman to start in a game this big in a first year HC first game. It's a big step from high school football in Washington and the Chick Fila kick off game. The state of Washington produced 1 (JE) 5 star last year and only 2 4 star. I'm just saying lets make sure he's ready.

I agree. Unless Lambert made some huge improvements since last year, we have seen how he plays. Give Eason the chance to prove himself.

Yep, my main concern is OL play. Many skill players can do well with smart play-calling behind a solid OL.

Lambert will start and play as long as he's effective. Expect a Herschel type situation where, when Eason comes in, he never leaves.

This. Don't discount the fact that Eason has a huge ego, that probably needs to be tamed. Not starting the first game would go a long way of keeping that in check, notwithstanding his talent

Don't know if this is true or not, but UGA fans have not done much do quell this either.

I know people that have and leave it at that. It is not necessarily bad. You don't want a meek QB. The anecdotal stories that I have heard from his contemporaries lend me to believe he needs to take it down a notch

You mean the all-everything high school QB that was fawned over by every co-ed at both UGA and UF before he ever stepped foot on campus and is now being labeled as the savior of UGA football has a larger-than-normal ego????

Why? I want the guy that knows he can win. Not the Lambert kid who freaks out in the pocket.

This as well. Self-destructive arrogance is bad. A general sense of "I'm better than ou" with the ability to back it up on the field is good (for football, anyway).

Ever talked to Matt Stafford or Cam Newton or Ryan Mallet? Dudes are grade A douchers but they were great QBs in college.

That's the thing, he hasn't played in college yet so he doesn't know. Most of these kids knew they could win out of high school...or they wouldn't be playing for a program like Georgia.

You don't tend towards hyperbole, do you?

Yes. there were passes dropped by the defense that could/should have been INTs....but certainly not 16. EVERY QB that walks out on the field throws some passes that SHOULD have been INTs that were dropped by the defense.

Lambert also had a couple of passes dropped by his receivers that should have been TDs. had the pass at Tenn. been caught we would have been 10-2 during regular season...Richt would still be coaching here....a LOT of things would be looked at differently.

Some times things happen. I have to admit, I would be curious to know how many of Lambert's passes were dropped by the defense and how many are dropped on avg. by a defense. I can tell you this, though....it isn't as many as some on here have been insinuating. (And I am not talking about you Jeff.....crap. You said 18, so yes, I guess I am.)

Was my thinking, too. But, like everybody else, I'm sure he was just exaggerating. We all do it, and things always seem better OR worse as time passes.

Why? The record was a statistical aberration, not something he'd been continually flirting with his entire career. He's a journeyman who got hot in one game - that's all.

Everyone always says this, but that TD would have only tied that game and I have absolutely no confidence that our defense would have made a stop in overtime considering how that second half went.

True. Lightening in a bottle. IF he plays significant downs this year, I would not expect a repeat performance. He is, what he is. No more. No less.
