Is UGA even a program that could hire and keep a new HC

expecially one that is a lot more win oriented (a la Jimbo Fisher) or one that will expect 5+ mill per year at the first sign of success.
I have to believe Coach Richt is exactly what the powers-that-be want and I don't see another guy out there that would win 9-10 games a year and fill the "he's such a great guy" mold.
I don't think UGA wants to spend the funds or deal with too much drama (a la Winston). Richt has successfully delivered the desired program to those who make the decisions. Hell, look at the other major sports in Athens. Most are underfunded. poorly coached, and very mediocre.

Hump, who knows...I HAVE to believe that Richt is well liked by the big money people, and that part of that comes from the perception of "winning with class and without sin". Couple that with Richt's (currently) middle-of-the-road salary, and one could surmise that the University is getting a great ROI, perhaps better than they could anywhere else.
That said, IF Richt were to "leave", I absolutely believe that UGA would go the cheap route. That's always been the case. Dooley, Goff, Donnan, Richt.
Only Donnan had HC experience, and that was at a lower division Marshall.
Perhaps a new hire could write his own check IF he won something of significance, something which Richt has failed to do in almost a decade....

It is enough. Fire Richt after any loss. Boring troll.

Actually Humper, HRD, myself, and a few others have wanted Richt gone for years.

why do tards always reference this as if it's some sort of requirement to check off to be the coach? Perno was a well known dickhead that nobody liked but he won, which is why he lasted as long as he did. Our next coach, whenever that day comes and I have no clue when it will be, will get hired based on his ability to win football games, not becuase he's the nicest candidate.

Jimbo Fisher is your example?

We'd definitely win the recruiting battle for all the 5* rapists.

Perno you call him, lasted because he never took a raise he was cheap, I think he made something like 500k a year, maybe less, but yeah he did win a time or two I believe
Something CMR cant and will never do

dafuq are you talking about? Perno never won a CWS as coach. He won made it to omaha a few times, which is why we kept him. Him being a tool didn't factor into the equation. Just like Richt being nice doens't factor in either.

Yet another handwringing response.
Richt for the last five complete years has averaged 4+ losses. The bowl record over the last five years is 2-3. Recruiting and athlete retention is spotty at best.
Look at the schedule. Given the current state of the SEC east, who couldn't win 8-9 games on a regular basis? If and when UT and UF begin to win Richt goes to 7 win seasons. The only hope will be don't schedule the ND's or Clemson's of the world, or hope Carolina doesn't catch lightning in a bottle again or hope we continue to draw at least one soft SEC west team.
Being a nice man only takes one so far. Wring your hands, sing kumbaya, live the fantasy. Richt wins, just not in a grand scale.
When you go to that dark scary place at night, ask yourself -- can Richt win big? Why has Missouri won two east divisions in a row? Bet you crap your jammies.

you gonna put that sig on this account WG? or are you just gonna be a bitch?

I would be willing to bet even in their current state Florida and tenn will win a SEC east championship before UGA wins another.

what is your weird fascination with me dude? I don't know how many times we have to keep going over this.

no fascination I just want you to honor the bet.
You can deny you're not WG, but you make it too obvious.
- email for HG included your IRL name that is associated with WG through various pictures you felt the need to post.
- used this account for the HG because Jeff banned WG from the games
- Desmond disappears after you are eliminated
- Now you show up after claiming WG was not gonna post with the GT sig.

What is your definition of winning? Because that shite doesn't make any sense.

Yep, we have discussed this many times and I pretty much agree. Coaching at a major program is a very demanding life and Richt balances the non-game priorities well. As long as Richt often has 9-10 win seasons, our admins will be satisfied with the overall positive image for UGA that Mark conveys.
It's very tempting to get on the HC after a disappointed loss especially when poor coaching decisions contributed to the loss but as old time Georgia fan, I have to look at the big picture and the picture I see includes CMR in the foreground for as long as he wants to be.
