1) Worked out a deal with Richt to resign.
2) Offered Richt a leadership position giving him what he wants to ultimately be doing. Keeping the fan base and recruits who wanted to be here because of Richt to still be around him.
3) Asked Richt to go to the major recruits and smooth things over with assurance of sorts.
4) Already have a new coach lines by for a decision this week to be made.

Or did none of this happen?

I don't know, but Monteg said weeks ago, Richt would be replaced by Smart.
That lil Jew knows everything!

If this is a plan, it's going to be a masterpiece. If not, and McGarity is acting off reaction then get ready for a train wreck. I'm hoping Richt was told he's the AD in waiting and was allowed to pick or have strong say so in predecessor. That solves one problem....the next will be finding a guy that wins 8-10 games a year with a NC every 1-3 years.

Richt got fired. He's in shock and defaulting to nice-guy mode about accepting emasculating librarian job. This ain't over..

Why do people keep regurgitating that he resigned?

It's a lot harder to fire someone like Richt than some a-hole. He is a genuinely nice guy and has meant a lot to the image of the university and to many players. So I do think they've tried to frame this in a positive way and would like him to be affiliated with UGA if he's burned out on coaching.

CFB coaches are no different from the masses in that their bosses, the ADs, set expectations with them annually. I guess some people think that McGarity just got a sudden, wild hair and decided to pull the plug. This was in the works after the TN game and was a done deal after the UF game. Feelers were already out for possible replacements. This is a multi-million dollar business, not a bicycle shop.

And the football program was #3 in profits while the football coach's boss was not keeping up with the competition in workforce and physical plant spending.

I mean, if this is all of a sudden a full on business decision, then the BoD needs to find a new CEO.

Have revenues decreased for the FB program? Are season ticket sales declining? Do we have empty sear like we did in '95?

Have you looked at the other major sports at the school
and how they're doing?

If this is looked at objectively it's pretty freakin clear which person is not keeping up with the competition in ALL areas of athletics and who has NO track record of producing.
