k let's say they finish top 10 this year. There still is no comparison between the 2. Richt did more in his first 5 years as a head coach than butch has in his career.
Butch had won multiple conference titles in 2 different conferences and has improved UT annually, so I dont know what you are basing this on.

Yea,because winning a MAC and Big East Championship is the EXACT same thing as winning an SEC Championship.
And Brian Kelly did the heavy lifting at both places before Butch was handed the keys.

Its all relative.

Can we have any hope that Tucker will fare better, under Smart's guidance? We did a great job for 2 quarters in '15. Should have plenty of applicable film.
We got gashed from minute 1 of that game through the very end. Leonard Floyds 99 yard fumble TD return and another early TO made our defense look a lot better than they were actually performing. They were getting 5+ rushing yards per play all game long.

UT will be the SEC East favorite, and should be. Getting them in Athens will help, but there's just no way to make any kind of guess how that game will go. Maybe after both teams play a game or 2.

It seemed like that for sure. But, it was actually Dobbs that did the damage. He threw for over 300 yards and ran for 118. He did the vast amount of damage. Hurd, ran for 80 yards and a 3.8 avg. Several long completions hurt us badly.
The knock on Dobbs was his inconsistency passing. He picked our game to become Mr. Consistency.
Add to that fumbles and dropped passes and it turned into a recipe for disaster.

Good post...and when NC went down, my heart sank. But UGA had their chances even without him. They blew a big lead...

Hurd couldn't get going against your defense last year.
We "Should" be very good this season, return nearly everyone from a decent team. Got rid of ultra conservative DC, Jancek. The biggest question mark is gonna be Dobbs and the receivers, they HAVE TO get better.
As far as the UGA game, I gotta be honest, I have no idea what to expect. It scares me more than UF, as crazy as that sounds.

I'm basing it on common sense.
CMU: 27-13, 2 Motor City bowl losses and a GMAC bowl win
Cincy: 23-14, Liberty bowl win. Also lost to derek dooley
UT: 21-17, taxslayer and outback bowl wins
In Richt's first 5 years as a coach, he went 52-13 with 3 SEC east titles, 2 SECCG wins, 4 top 10 national finishes, 1 top 3 finish, 2 BCS bowls, etc. He was also coming in off the donnan years that went 8-4 his last 2 seasons.
I mean there is not any metric you could want to use that would put butch on the same plane as richt as coaches.

They certainy have the talent. It will be a matter of maturing and the way they are used. Dobbs had a great game against us last year, and thta has to make us take notice. We have you at our house this year, but you guys bring a lot of talent back. It should be interesting, but I would give Tennessee the edge. What we don't know on our side is how the team will respond to Smart and how Smart will do when the responsibility falls totally on him. I honestly believe Smart will respond well.....but only time will tell.

Mine too. I thought we would surely lose then, but Michel stepped up and kept us in the game. Our offense was crippled with a QB that couldn't carry the team and our #1 RB down. I was surprised and proud that they (The team) kept pace with Tennessee. We actually put up really good numbers against a good UT defense.

Michel played amazing in that game. Our defense was, OK, last year. We got better late in the year, mostly due to competition.
We're going to be much better this year, particularly against the run.

We led 24-3 late in the 2nd, so we were keeping them out of the end zone. I think losing NC had a big effect when things started getting tight. SM had to be tired by the end of the 3rd. If we had a fresher back things might have been different.
We don't yet know what all we have. Will Eason mature, will Chubb be healthy, will Tucker have answers for their O that Pruitt didn't have? I do think the atmosphere will be loud and crazy. Our fan base is as hungry as any in the SEC. But I don't think it'll be a cakewalk for UT.

Lambert actually had a pretty decent game.2 TD's,279 yards and if Reggie Davis freakin holds on to an easy TD pass his stats would've been 300+ and 3 TD'S.

Another good post. When Reggie dropped that TD pass, I hollered at the tv so loud my wife got on to me. I told her to STFU and make me a sammich.

Is that why your skull is shaped like that?

I knew you guys have been picking up some top talent along the DL the last few years. What caught me off guard was the tackling on some of the plays. There were times when your guys looked really, really bad. I chalk it up to youth and inexperience. Stuff that improves and can be corrected.

It amazes me how good Lambert could look at times and then turn around and look totally lost. And if he was on, he was on for the whole game. If he was lost.....he was lost for the whole game.
