UT fans seem to think that we won't be any problem for them this year since they put up 400+ yds total offense on us last year. And some think Chaney will be a bust since they were awful when he was there. They basically are point towards UF and Bama as the only speed bumps on the way to their SECC.

I think we might give 'em a game in Athens. We'll see.

They'll be good. They have some great talent but they'll need to overcome their version of Richt.

This should be the best UT team in a long time, maybe in 10 years.

STill, their coach is a joke so who knows how good they'll be. For the first time in a while they ACTUALLY have good reason for high expectations. Should be a hell of a game, glad it's at home.

It's an insult to Richt to compare him to Butch Jones.

For what its worth, I think Tennessee will get a signature win this year against somebody (top 15 opponent) but they still wont win the SEC East.

kinda scary to look at their close calls last year

-lost by 7 playoff team OU in overtime
-absolute should have beat east winner uf before losing by 1 at the very end
-lost by 4 to a pretty solid 8 win arkansas
-lost by 5 to national champ alabama

and they return a ton. They'll be one of our tougher opponents for sure, if not the best team we play all year IMO.

He's their Jim Donnan. Can recruit but can't coach a lick.

Yep, UT played tough against good opponents last year. What they have been missing is depth; seemed to fizzle at the end of games. If they have improved their depth across the board, they have a legit shot at winning the East this coming season.

I'd say that's a much better comparison.

ok let's say they finish top 10 this year. There still is no comparison between the 2. Richt did more in his first 5 years as a head coach than butch has in his career.

Ironically, it was the UT game last year where he slammed down his head set and yelled a rare obscenity that I think he knew he was done. Miami canned golden about that time as well, then later a 4.5 million dollar contract was negotiated and signed in a matter of hours.

Happy for all parties and appreciate CMR but losing a game like that with a huge lead was par for what the program had been doing 1 or 2 games a year.

I agree with you mostly, but to be fair Richt can't make sony not fumble before halftime or reggie catch the tying TD. Those mistakes contributed to the loss and those have nothign to do with richt.

But yeah, we certainly didn't play to our potential every game.

Tennessee game can't be put on Richt. Chubb going down, Sony fumbling, Pruitt having no answer for Dobbs, Reggie drop, etc.

The Florida game is what sealed CMR's fate

Can we have any hope that Tucker will fare better, under Smart's guidance? We did a great job for 2 quarters in '15. Should have plenty of applicable film.

This will probably be the most talent they've had since their 2001 team. This team won't be nearly as good as their 2001 team, but they look like they will be loaded across the board. Basically their entire season comes down to Dobbs's ability to actually be a QB rather than a glorified RB
