Injuries at Inside Linebacker

With some recent injuries at this position and our difficulty stopping the run last year am I too concerned or do we have enough potential depth at iL?

The thing you have to remember about injuries in camp is that the minor ones are often guys that are held out as a precaution but could play if it was game week.
UGA has plenty of guys. Kimbrough, Carter, Ganus, Patrick, Smith, and Floyd will contribute at ILB.

Everyone is saying that Kimbrough should be good to go for the 1st game and it doesn't appear that Carter's is anything too serious at this point. It's nothing I'm too worried about right now, but if we suffer a couple of major injuries there then it will definitely be a concern. Our 2 starters and 2 freshmen (Smith, Patrick) are both very good and far more athletic than last year's unit, but we don't have much quality depth yet.
edit: Forgot about Ganus. FLoyd might be able to spell some of the guys in certain situations, but if he has to spend any extended time inside then we're likely in trouble.

There's more depth than we had last year imo

I agree, but I felt the same way about that unit last year, too. I don't think Ryne Rankin will ever be anything more than a Special Teams All-Star.

Agree on Rankin. I like Juwan Taylor long term though

Linebackers are the least of my worries. I feel like that is probably our most talented group. I never felt like Ramik Wilson was great. He was a solid thumper but he had issues in coverage and seemed to lack that speed that Ogletree had of course lots of linebackers lack that speed. That being said, I feel really good about not only the group coming back but the youth D'Andre Walker and Roquan Smith are going to be really good backers in the future. Should be fun to watch.

Ramik tore it up the other night until he god injured and taken out. But before that he was leading every stat on defense, even had a pick. Don't know why they didn't let Conley play though and Murray was only in for 1 drive.

"So on the positive side, if you want to look at it, you’ve got younger linebackers who are getting a whole lot more work, and that will help create depth at that position. So for the time being, knowing that these guys will be back, it’s not an awful thing at this minute,” Richt said. “The key is getting those guys back healthy.”

Murray played the final quarter and a half but the chiefs were up big and they only let him throw one pass. He played several drives. And Conley missed the first 6 practices of the season with a knee injury, had only had a few practices in at that point so they held him out of game one. Should get a lot of reps tomorrow night.
