Probably good for some and bad for others. No one knows where the hell you typically go or where you come from, how often you drive it, what's your financial standing, etc. This belongs on the OT for some downvotes

I had one for awhile. Was pretty cool for awhile. But there are too many jackboots from Jefferson who don't know to stay out of the lane and they drive 55 and cops don't enforce it enough. But if your time is really critical, it'll pay off in the long run.

I remember the thousand yard stare as I sped past him. Outwardly defiant, he was assigned a four foot wide citadel. Between a painted white line and a pre-stressed concrete barrier.

Only two or more shall pass in the far left lane, without a municipal fee, a levy on the frivolous.

This had to be one of the "most stupid" moronic decisions by Gwinnett county in the history of "most stupid shite".

The precedent has been established, the "far left" lane that was previously ecologically based, becomes what it was always meant to be, taxed.

Pi$$es me off to no end. Tax me to death, waste most of the $$, then tax usage on road my tax $$'s already built. Even the mafia blushes at the audaciousness.

I commuted from Athens to Atlanta daily for three years. I'll just say, I bought one and it was typically useful. There were times where traffic was so bad that the toll would really make you think twice ($8-9.00, one way), but all in all, it was good. There were plenty of days where that traffic made you look at the toll amount and just say, "ahhh, frick it".

Only complaint is it only works for you when you get to Spaghetti Junction (or doesn't work for you til you get there coming OUT of Atlanta).

Pretty sure it costs you a lot more than that from a quality of life standpoint. I did this drive for a year and it was pretty bad. You get used to it, but it still sucks because it cuts into time you could be doing other stuff.

As far as peach pass goes, it is worth it to have one but it wont save you much time during rush hour. Where it really comes into handy is if you are driving on the weekend and there is an accident on 85. There was a car fire last weekend that closed down 3 right lanes for an hour or so and backed traffic up from Jimmy Carter all the way to Suwanee but nobody was in the peach pass lane. It easily saved me a half hour.

what is the penalty for abusing? LIke in that scenario if someone doesnt' have the PP and just get in the lane anyway and go on...obviously they'd have your plate and I assume mail you a ticket, but how steep is it?

I'll let you know when I get my ticket. My kid graduated from UGA a couple weeks ago and the only way I could make it there on time on Friday afternoon was in that lane. So I said "frick it". I'm thinking $150 or so.

It is $25 bucks + whatever the toll amount is. I remember when they first rolled it out they had a warning period. It may be that if you did it just one time they might not fine you for it and you get a warning in the mail. Even if they do, not the end of the world paying $25 - $30 to save time if you are in a rush.

No point in not just signing up for it if you find yourself on 85 once a week. It is free to get the sticker/magnet, you just have to load $20 bucks into your peach pass account.

Frankly, $$$. Not nearly enough, though. I actually enjoyed my job and most days, I only drove halfway and caught a bus from Dacula for the other half. Not as bad as it could have been, for sure.

That's really the thing to do, honestly. Wish there was a better, AFFORDABLE, alternative to the Volt (CHEVY), tho.

I have Peach Pass.

I have commuted from Athens to Atl (ITP) since 2006.

In 2014 I negotiated the cost of Peach Pass into my new salary.

So I still pay it, but I trick myself into thinking my corporation pays it.

It saves about 15 minutes each way. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

So you really need to determine how much your time is worth.

You can figure on about $20 a day minimum for use. Or more.

So if your time is worth more than $40/ hr, then consider Peach Pass.

If less than 40/hr, then I suggest switching up you schedule to get around the worst of rush "hour".

I surely hope no one on this board values their time at less than $40/hr. Other than Jefferson. His time use probably worth less than $10/hr.

Say you worked 50 weeks of the year at 5 days a week that's 250 work days in the year. At $20 a day you're talking about $5,000 per year. I'm certainly no baller but the thought of paying 5K per year to shave 30 minutes round trip off my commute seems insane.

Surely you are differentiating our subjective opinions on "value" versus actual pay for said time?
