I watched the O line

It seemed like every time we pulled a guard or center, good stuff happened... We just didn't do it very much. The blocking scheme on the dive just doesn't seem like it has a lot of upside unless the LB makes a mistake like the last play. We also didn't audible off their run blitz. They didn't hide it too well either. We are not playing to our strength.

Against GSU they should dominate regardless

You say that and I agree in principle.... But they really attacked that dive with run blitzes and stunting gaps. Gotta give them credit for knowing what we do and countering. We didn't take advantage of it.

GSU has some athletes and they aren't going to lay down when they play UGA. App St. Beat MI, GSU beat FL, it happens. Be happy for the W and move on.

Ya... Be happy we aren't competitive with Alabama and Florida but we can hang with GSU. Gotcha.

started a freshman center last night and he struggled early..and it's correct our QB never audibled due to an obvious run blitz..

Our OL is not very good. I don't know how much of it is coaching but we don't recruit well enough on the OL to be competitive with the better teams. Michel had a good night with 23 carries for 130 yards but definitely earned every bit of it. Michel's total ended up being our total rushing yardage in the game. Meanwhile, GSU had 233 rushing yards. Lambert actually had a decent night at 16/25 for 183 yds and 1 TD.

Men are talking here. Methinks a sink full of dishes has your name on it.

The players on this OL that were here last season didn't suddenly lose their ability to block. The line coach is to blame for changing the blocking scheme we used for years. Pulling guards have nearly disappeared from our offense, and that's what opens holes for inside runs.
We should offed Friend a ton of money to come back and then groom him to be OC in a few years. Hell, hire Spurrier to come in and teach Friend.

Yup, we're back to where we were with Coach Searels. We had a great line with a man blocking scheme and now we're shite again.

I started a thread late spring when the revised height weight charts was released about my concerns on the Oline. And the replies I got from Dawg Fans....
Your Teams Biggest Concern as of Today ............(Posted on 6/4/15 at 7:19 pm)
For us off season conditioning have our potential starters on the Oline losing significant weight. Most would feel this isn't an issue but 3 starters in the 280's and 270's range is alarming in the SEC. Maybe over the next few weeks there will be a weight gain program as these numbers were from early last month but today this is an issue. We weren't particular large up front last year and produced an outstanding running but we were in the middle of the pack in sacks given up per pass attempt which is something that needs to be improved on while breaking in a new QB which most feel is our main concern. The talent is there at QB and with solid protection the QB's confidence will build.
OT John Theus - 6'6 303(-10)
OG Brandon Kublanow - 6'3 282(-12)
C Isaiah Wynn - 6'2 278(-5)
OG Greg Pyke - 6'6 313(-8)
OT Kolton Houston- 6'5 285(-2)
Responses? I will leave out the names.
1. Wasn't aware our OL weight was a concern at all, let alone the biggest concern we have on our team. Our OL is one of the least of my concerns, fwiw. Well behind my concern at QB and WR, for example.
2. Our OL wasn't perfect, but they are far from our biggest concern. Heck, we return one of the most experienced and deepest OLs I can remember at Georgia.
Meanwhile we'll be starting a brand new QB (whoever it is) with almost zero experience, or (worse) from a Virginia team that was below .500 last year. Seems that should be a little higher on our 'concern' list. And we need just about all of our incoming frosh WRs to contribute just to make sure we have a decent WR rotation.
Anyway, our OL is far from my biggest concern, fwiw. In fact, I think it's one of our greatest strengths going into next season.
3. I do. But it certainly ain't the crew we have returning. We return four of the five starters that paved the way for the most points a Georgia team has ever scored in one season, I believe. I think we averaged something like 41 points a game, for tops in the SEC. Plus, behind the returning four starters, our OL bench is pretty deep, not to mention a couple of behemoths we've got joining the team in the Fall.
Yeah, I don't have the OL at the top of my 'concern' list.
4. You think Theus and Houston are too small to be Tackles? They are both bigger than Clowney.
And Wynn is bigger than Andrews, his predecessor.
Are you worried about Kublanow at 282? That's pretty husky on a 6'3" frame.
You should worry more about Wynn snapping the ball cleanly than whether he weighs in before or after his morning dump.
5. Oline is the least of my concerns outside of pass rush. Wide receiver and qb has me sweatin
6. In 2010, Georgia had the biggest line in college football and went 6-7. I think that there is a place for an athletic OL to really do well with the more wide open offenses out there. I don't know where that break point is...but I think that you can still be successful in the 280's range if you are in the right situation
Instead of working on the Olinemen getting bigger and stronger, the staff focused on getting them slimmer and more moble for some reason. Shite linemen don't have to move much. I'm no personal trainer but when you work on losing weith you either lose strength or don't gain much. This is the SEC.

We run read option (at times) with a qb who refuses to take it up field. Watching defenses flow to our rb & leaving the qb keeper open 100% of the time is disgusting to watch. A qb with a fricking set would've had 70 or 80 yrds rushing last night and it would have slowed down pursuit of our rb.

You can call that play without the option. May be what we are doing. Our QB is slower than steam off shite on a cold morning, which keeps the fake at bey.

So let me ask you this, how did we have a great oline last year but we stink this year?
Posted on 11/22/15 at 11:52 am to Peter Buck
A crippled could've rushed for 70 considering the lengths opposing defenses sell out to our rb's.

I'll tell you why...Nick Chubb and Andrews....thats how
Posted on 11/22/15 at 12:15 pm to Porter Osborne Jr
I think it's clear Friend was a better coach than what we have now plus running a new offense and blocking scheme with kids that have been running the same scheme for 3 years probably isn't an easy transition.

Cool, I completely agree. I was just wondering where you were going with the size stuff.
