Two years ago I was ready to fire Richt. I could prevaricate, but I'm not. I thought Richt needed to go. I pretty much stopped posting here.

In the last two years, Richt has:

1) completely revamped recruiting, my god we are actually recruiting linemen every year!
2) stood up for the program and obtained the funding to compete with other top tier programs (S&C, indoor practice field, special assistants, etc.)
3) aggressively sought and hired outstanding coordinators, and, at this point, I believe Shot will prove to be an upgrade
4) totally changed the culture in the locker room -- no off season arrests, stupid penalties down, etc.
5) changed his philosophy on playing time, now the best player plays
6) realized special teams can be a weapon and not just a breather for the "real" players
7) coached aggressively, Spurrier got cute late and Richt reacted by pouring on the points

I'm not saying GA will win the SEC or the natty this year. I think it will take a couple of years for program to reap the full benefit of all of the changes. Also, I think Richt has to continue to learn how, and therefor teach the team, to be the alpha dog in the SEC. Crushing, and I don't necessarily mean the score, Bama and UT in the next couple of weeks would pay benefits for years. But, I do believe GA will be in the mix for the foreseeable future.

GO DAWGS!!

Respectfully,

Why are you just apologizing to the "Disneys"?

Why not also apologize to those of us who are not governed by emotion and impulses and unrealistic expectations, as both "Disneys" and fair-weather fan quitters like you are?

This.

Children are ruled by their emotions. Adults need to evaluate situations based on the information available.

Adult diehard fans are ruled by optimism. Children hedge themselves.

Here's to the Disneys!

We have won 4 games that we should never lose....give it at least one more week.....we need the fire Richt crowd to keep the fire just hot enough to keep him focused....

frick richt, fire his arse...we shouldve scored 70 against Southern....dude can't get a team fired up on gaemday (for those of you with reading problems that was written as sarcasm...it is not a true reflection of my thoughts.....)

A. Because historically optimists have always been called Disneys and Pessimists have been called Dooms Day Dawgs.

B. I hate to tell you bro but any fan that's taking time to apologize to a message board group isn't fair weather as they've obviously invested more than a passing glance at how UGA is doing.

C. Calling people Disneys and/or fair weather fan quitters is an emotional response. So You basically excluded yourself from whatever group you thought was entitled to an apology.

Thanks for bringing us all up to speed on GSB e-terminlology 101.

Disagree. He's apologizing now because he sees the potential of the season. WHereas earlier he could not. His mind was made up on what Richt was capable of. But now the weather is fair. And he wants to be on the bandwagon.

Is this like Gender Neutral where you can't use words like he or she to describe anything? What should I refer to people that disapear when the weather is foul but then reappear to grovel and apologize when the weather is fair then?

Jefferson, let there be no misunderstanding. There is no bandwagon. I believe GA will lose 2-3 games this year. My post outlined my reasons for thinking Richt has changed for the better. My expectations are the same as always -- just win baby!

I sometimes wonder what internet tough guys like you are really like. Are you a fat frick holed up in your mom's basement? Are you one of those wannabe athletes I crushed on Saturday mornings for thirty years? Just exactly who are you to question my love for my team, my university?

As I was running this morning, I tried to remember the first generation of family to attend the university. I thought of all the trips to the Greasy V before the freshman game. I remembered watching my childhood hero Andy Johnson play ball on a warm, sunny, Fall day. I remembered the bull gator leaning on his orange caddy crying the blues after 4th and dumb. I remembered mom's stories of Pat and Fran while she was in school. I remembered Bill Stanfill telling Jake Scott stories to my buddy's older brother. I remembered Herschel walking into one of my classes while I was in grad school. I remembered as a little boy watching my cousin who was a majorette in the redcoat band. I remembered listening to Larry call the 21-0 game while I was on the dove field. I remembered hoping as a kid I would be big enough, like my dad and uncle, so I could play ball for the dawgs (they played for other schools. I was all dog and I wasn't). I remembered Larry make the call when Robert Edwards got hurt. I remembered thinking Eric Zeier was the best GA quarterback I had ever seen. I remembered the glory of the early Richt years. Thank you Jefferson for triggering my trip down memory lane. It was fun.

Jefferson, you've had your say. Twice. Please get off my thread.

Regards,

A realadawg.

Sorry running dog, none of that makes a true fan. It's all about the frequency and timing of posts on Internet message boards.

True, also his twin -- Rattletrap. I wish rattle and the old gang would creep back into the mix.

So, if someone disagrees or rejects your fair-weather e-apology to a bunch of strangers on the internet, that person must be a fat blob living in mom's basement.....or one of the countless wannabe athletes you crushed "for 30 years"........or some other inferior creature??!

Or maybe there's some truth in my opinion (which is what message boards are for), and so it struck a nerve.

I asked you politely to leave my thread. I'm asking again.

I don't diminish your opinion. I just don't care what you or your ilk think.

Thank you,

Richt is not out of the woods yet! He has to win with all this talent or they will FIRE his arse. The new admins do not like him or the doing less with more mentality! Screw the disney's, they would keep Ray Goff for 10 years. These next three years are put up or shut up for Marky!

The force is strong within you, RD. Rest assured I will never be a Disney dawg. I don't like cherry koolaid.

I'm not basing my position on four games. I perceive a shift in Richt's philosophy. I believe it began after the 2013 shite show when dummy left for Louisville. It wouldn't surprise me if Richt told Bobo it was time to take a HC job.

I hope I am right. We will see.
