I don't think Georgia's schedule next season is easy

I keep reading prognosticators and fans on message boards who think Georgia's schedule next season is easy. I suppose they think this because Georgia doesn't play Alabama or LSU.

That doesn't mean they have an easy schedule.

Yeah, they have an excellent chance of going unbeaten at home, but all of their tough games are on the road.

Since when did playing at South Bend, Knoxville, Auburn, and Jacksonville become easy?

Plus Vandy is tough and Georgia Tech might be decent as well.

I don't see a single "easy" road game.

My guess is that Georgia will finish unbeaten at home but lose about half their road games.

I think our schedule is about as easy as we could hope for. We play in the East, get MSU as our West opponent, and get Tech and ND when they aren't at their strongest.

We do play 2 P5 opponents on the road, but it's definitely the easiest our schedule has been in a long time, especially considering how weak the East is right now.

We play in the SEC no season will be completely "easy". But it's certainly not as daunting as schedules in years past.

-ND lost both their good QBs and their DC. They will not be as good as last year and they went 4-8 last year.
-UT is on the road and will be tough, but they lost their best player and really shouldn't have beaten us last year anyway. Knoxville will always be a tough game, but it's not like this is 90s era UT
-Auburn same as above..always a battle but they haven't been "really good" since 2013 and we whooped em last year.
-UF simply has not been that great of a team, they've just had our number. Of course this will be difficult, but again isn't not insurmountable.
-Vandy is a sure win and tech hasn't beaten us in atlanta without cheating since the early 90s.

People will say this schedule is "easy" because all of our main foes (UT, AU, UF) are all nothing special. Our marquee road game ND is a mess. From the west we trade @OM last year for MSU at home this year. And we miss bama and LSU. It won't be a walk in the park but it's definitely in our favor.

Oh yeah. Fair point. Forgot we only played one P5 opponent that year. But we did play Bama that year and they're generally pretty decent.

I mean, if we're highlighting that as one of our tough games, then I'd like to see what an "easy" schedule is, if it even exists.

Tennessee and Florida ain't the Tennessee and Florida of old, Notre Dame was horrible last year and we play the 6th best West team for our cross game.

For an SEC team, it really doesn't get a whole lot easier than that.

Notre Dame won 4 games last year and lost a ton of "talent". If we don't beat ND I will be very disappointed.
Tennessee lost a lot of talent and have not recruited particularly well to replace what they have lost, but Knoxville is always tough.
Auburn should be very good and could be our toughest game....probably will.
Jacksonville? It's a neutral site. Florida has not recruited well, either and they lost a ton. We SHOULD beat them, but that can be said of a lot of years.
Vanderbilt should never beat us barring a ton of injuries.

App State will be a trap game for sure. Notre Dame and Miss State will not be a cake walk.

We lose this game and it will be the beginning of the end of Smart at UGA.

110% no excuse for losing that game.

Pretty much agree with you. Keep in mind, it *is* going to happen to someone. That team is better than Ga Southern was when they beat UF. They're going to beat teams (not named Michigan) that most people would think they "shouldn't".

Decent article discussing them here with a lot of statistical analysis. If you want to nerd out, kind of a fun read.

They should have bitten UT last year... That should be enough to make sure our team isn't overlooking them... hell they looked better last year than Notre Dame... if anything, Notre Dame is the trap game .

App state certainly isn't a tomato can, but if their name was anything else people wouldn't really care as much.

Last year despite a close call against an overrated UT team, they lost to Troy and by 35 to miami. The year before they had a good record but lost to Arkansas state and by 31 to clemson.

They are "good" but we have no reason to be worried about them.

Oh for sure... See my first sentence before the rest of it... I agree we *should* not have anything to worry about there, and if turns out we should have, it's not so much about that game but rather the HMFIC.

I'm no more nervous for that one than I would any first game of the season, and probably less so than last year at the very least... Until you see them on the field though, you don't know how it's all going to come together.

It's a little overblown how bad ND was last season. They only got blown out twice (home vs MSU before their wheels fell off and at USC). Their other six losses could have easily all been wins. Yeah, I know "if if if" but they were closer to being pretty good than a lot of people think.

Lost by 3 at Texas in OT

Lost by 8 at home vs MSU (game was 36-7 when Sparty took their foot off the gas, it could have been a whole lot worse)

Lost by 3 at home vs Duke (ouch)

Lost by 7 at NCST in a hurricane

Lost by 7 at home vs Stanford

Lost by 1 in Jax vs Navy (Navy was really good until QB broke his foot)

Lost by 3 at home vs VT (almost beat Clemson in ACCCG)

Lost by 18 at USC (won Rose Bowl)

True. I was largely being facetious, but good recap on some of the close ones.

ND/NCST was some of the shittiest weather I've ever seen at a football game. Made the 2015 Alabama game look like a bright sunny day.

Also, Navy had one of the most well executed game plans I've ever seen against ND last year. ND had four possessions in the second half because Navy played keep away so well.

I was at the Nichols game last year.

We can't afford to overlook anybody.
