Upvote for Herman

Downvote for Smart

You can also explain why you choose one over the other.

GO!

If KS is truly designing the defensive gameplans, really the one calling the defensive plays and players say they are coming to Alabama to play for him, then I have no problem with KS as HC. My concern is that he just puppets everything Saban tells him defensively and becomes completely lost when in charge of a team on his own

Well, with smart I think we have a better shot at Eason and Pruitt staying. Also recruiting would take big positive steps.

Which one would most likely keep our recruiting classes intact?

Our current one? Kirby. But Herman could turn the heads of some otherwise unreachable recruits.

KS would be a better recruiter, but with respect to Eason, we really shouldn't let an 18 year old recruit dictate the HC we'll be stuck with for at least the next few years.

If thats so, then what is the trade-off? Curious to see how many would leave depending on the hire. Would Eason stay if it were Herman? Is that why we are targeting a dual threat in a later class? If that were the case, look for the Lambert/Ramsey/Bauta saga to continue.

Also, with Marshal gone, does Chubb pack it in, too?

I'll be happy with either one. They each have their pros and cons.

If I had to pick, I'd rather see us hire Herman just because he has some experience running a program and it is very clear that he is the main reason for the success that follows him.

Smart would keep our class in tact, for the most part, for a couple of reasons:

1) great relationships around the state, has been recruiting Ga for well more than a decade

2) best chance at keeping Pruitt which keeps most of our defensive class in particular, intact, and will help close the uncommitted guys as well. That's more important than Eason, IMO.

It all depends on the OC hire. Herman likes the dual threat over pro style.

And what do you mean chubb pack it in?

Doesn't Chubb still have one more year?

It's all about Karma. It's not the HC that matters. Que is 2-0!

So, wonder what the chances are of Pruitt staying if Herman is the one. From what have been reading, that isn't so good. If that is the case, who would be a home run DC hire?

Both are good but I want to keep Pruitt for sure.

Herman would do a complete overhaul of the staff. Maybe keep a few lower guys, but pruitt and schotty would be gone.

I would assume schotty is gone literally no matter what.

Interesting indeed.

If Herman is our HC, I would imagine we would essentially clean house and Pruitt would be gone. I would be fine with Herman, but I think Kirby will ultimately be our guy and will be the best recruiter we've ever had. Kirby would legitimately give us a chance to compete with Bama purely on a recruiting level.

I'm kind of confused by this thought, which I've seen several times now. If we get smart and keep Pruitt, how would our recruiting suddenly take off? You're swapping Richt for Smart - say what you will, but Richt was an excellent recruiter. Even if Smart is an upgrade in that area, I highly doubt it will be such an abrupt difference.
