You will only be a number 1 pick by proving it in college..... how many of these sure thing QBs don't pan out ????
Seriously???

There is no comparison. They don't even belong in the same conversation.

You guys are nuts.... No fricking Freshman is ever going to come in and unseat an upperclassman out of the gate for a starting quarterback position at UGA.
Tom Brady was a backup for two years @ Michigan before he got the job and He's (arguably)the best that ever walked the earth...

From what I see on this film, Ramsey is an athletic, accurate passer with a quick release. This will bode well in Squatty's offense, particularly with the depth we have at RB. I think we'll see a lot of ball/clock control drives which will make our D even better. This could be a good season.

I don't predict that Eason is starting when we open vs. UNC next year, but I'd also be willing to bet a lot of money he doesn't redshirt the season either.

Unless we just feel REALLY good about the qb situation next season, I don't think Eason red shirts. He's not gonna come in and start unless someone implodes, but I bet we'll get him reps when we can.

The same exact time we've had a QB as highly touted as Eason coming in.
Matthew Stafford.
Murray wasn't redshirted, was he?

Just looked it up. He was. I didn't remember that.

Not in college.
Not saying he wasn't good....but he didn't start his first two years, and the last two years when he DID start, he was PAC-10 Honorable Mention, so he was good, but all world is overstating it a bit as far as college is concerned.
On the other hand, he was a late round draft pick, I believe, so it also points out how wrong scouting can be sometimes. OR, it could also point out how a motivated player can make great strides with good coaching.

I understand what you are saying, but to me Ramsey seemed to have a predetermined target more often than not. He under threw a LOT of passes. I only saw him g through progressions and go to a secondary receiver 3-4 times (although on film it can be more difficult to pick up on)

I like Eason, and his other film I've seen looks really good....but it is hard to tell anything about Jamboree film. It's early....but his passes had a lot of air under them and seemed to float. In some of his other film he seemed to have a bit more zip on the ball...even the deep passes. The problem is this....we are looking at "Highlight" film. We don't see bad plays, misjudgements, etc.

All of the film throws were for TDs, I believe. So he obviously chose the right target for the situation. I did see a couple of slight under throws, but how many times did we see Murray over throw? Ramsey has the arm and has gained some strength in Athens. I think he'll be a better QB than some think.

Don't forget he will have a little bit more of leg up then most incoming freshman because he will be an early enrollee.
I refuse to believe that all of the qbs we have now will be shitty enough that someone without any experience and little practice, a true freshman can come in and be the guy. At least from the start.
I truly expect him to start at some point in 2016

Would be great if this is the case. I see Ramsey as somewhat still raw. It's not his arm I'm worried about - it's his decision making... the anti-HM if you will. If he can do what HM did underneath and still be a threat down the field we'll be just fine.

What scares me about Ramsey is that he hasn't been announced the starter... Hopefully it says more about Greyson and Faton than it does Ramsey.

FWIW I believe that BR or GL will be the starter. They have a similar challenge in my opinion- don't throw INTs. CMR hates turnovers, especially by his QBs. Our eventual starter at QB will be the one who protects the ball. If neither one of them can FB will get a chance. I could see all 3 playing before the Bama game and I could see this competition drag out past the ULM game. I hope I'm worrying too much.

He was also coming off a broken leg suffered his senior year of HS, IIRC. Might have also had something to do with it.
those were dark times for UGA QBs...

They musta really picked out the only good film on Ramsey for that highlight video if he hasn't already been named the starter for this and last season? He looked really good in the film, so whats up?

Not necessarily. Just because it went for a TD doesn't mean it was the right choice. On at least one throw, he threw to a covered guy in the end zone, forcing the pass, when he could have thrown it to a wide open guy on the one yard line. Had the ball gotten batted away or interception....

I hope you are right! I'll be pulling for him!

Getting a little ahead of ourselves, no? Lots of guys who are awesome in high school turn out to be not-so-awesome in college, and plenty of guys who are awesome in college turn out to be not-so-awesome in the pros.
There's an awful lot that can happen - both on the field and off - between now and any NFL draft that he might be a part of.
