haven't seen any discussion on the GSU's HC's brainfart decision in the OT

I thought going for it on 4th down was pretty stupid..practically handed the game to us and apparently his defense agreed the next play..

I don't understand why he didn't go for it on 4th down with 30 seconds left in the 4th qtr

If they turn it over on downs with 37 seconds left we didn't have far to go for Morgan to kick the game winner.

only rationale I could think of was his defense was worn out and he couldn't rely on them anymore..

Maybe. But wasn't it 4th and 6 or 8? It was a pretty low percentage play when they really only had about 5 plays that went for more than 4 yards the whole game.

Yeah but run a play and you've left us with a few 25 or so seconds to go, no timeouts, and a complete inability to throw down field. We would have a small chance of making, let alone morgan actually making the kick if we did. Meanwhile, convert the 4th down, put yourself into field goal range and potentially win the game

I'm just trying to see it from his point of view. It's a risk he should've taken but I can see why he wouldn't.

I agree that he felt in the OT his defense was out of gas. But I think he should have gone for it at the end of the 4th quarter. I doubt we could have moved into FG range at that point.

Honestly, I didn't mind him going for it that much. What I had an issue with was the play call. When he motioned the qb out all 11 players on defense abandoned any thought of protecting the pass and were able to pin their ears back towards the line of scrimmage. By not making our perimeter defenders/linebackers think about the pass, he fricked himself.

I'm totally okay with him fricking himself. Repeatedly. Especially while Southern is playing Georgia.

Have you watched Morgan kick this year? Maybe a 2/3 chance at the best he would make it.

2/3 is 66% better than not giving him a chance?
