Rest easy Dawg Nation, running back Todd Gurley says the thigh he tweaked during Saturday's 38-35 loss to Clemson is just fine.

"It's straight, I'll be ready for Saturday," said Gurley, who was one of Georgia's few bright spots after rushing 12 times for 174 yards and two touchdowns against the Tigers.

Ironically, the injury occurred on Gurley's 75-yard run in the first quarter which tied the score at 7-7.

Gurley only carried the ball three more times the rest of the half after being replaced by Keith Marshall, before returning in the third quarter.

"It didn't affect me that much at all," Gurley said upon his return. "I had some runs where I fell down because of it, but I was straight."

Gurley's performance earned him the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, but it wasn't an honor the sophomore celebrated winning.

"It don't really mean that much," Gurley said. "I think (Vanderbilt's) Jordan Matthews should have got it. He had a great performance."

He's not anticipating any lingering issues against South Carolina.

"I don't think I was 100 percent before the game, but no running back is every 100 percent," Gurley said. "But I'll be back where I left off."

Gurley knows he's got his work cut out against the Gamecocks.

In last year's 35-7 loss, South Carolina held Gurley to a season low 39 yards on 13 carries, so he knows the challenge he's about to face.

"They're a physical defense, everybody knows that. They're going to line up in whatever defense they run - they're going to blitz and they don't care," Gurley said. "They're going to come after you. They're going to play tough. You've got to get one cut and get upfield, if not you're going to get tackled."

But while the Gamecocks certainly dominated the Bulldogs that October night in Columbia, Gurley also knows he and his teammates helped out a little bit, too.

"We just screwed ourselves as far as not taking the right track, dropping balls, overthrowing some balls," he said. "We pretty much just screwed ourselves. Hopefully, this year, we won't do that again."
