Tallest QB in UGA history? Dude's got a pretty good arm and can motor some. Might be just what we need right now.

checking in...I don't like it but hey...I can admit when I'm wrong...I truly thought it would be BR but evidently GL brought something to the table that the coaches feel is a step above what BR can do...I will say this...because of this "battle"...we are DEEP at QB and that is a good thing...and I'm ultimately all about what is good for UGA winning football games...no suicide watch here....and I don't think this is the final nail in the coffin for BR at UGA...and it sounds like CMR doesn't feel that way either...

I think the reason CMR said he didn't have peace concerning the QB competition was because he was hoping that BR would win the job and the team but it became obvious as camp went along that GL could compete physically with BR and had more going on between the ears.

This is either really good and we have a great starter and 2 solid backups...or, its a dumpster fire and GL was toting the smallest can of gasoline.

That's the spirit. You know Lambert is from South Georgia too...

And I agree that the battle probably isn't over. And we definitely won't have a huge drop off at backup if the starter were to go down this season, which is nice.

This has to be devastating to Ramsey's confidence. He didn't come to college to be a backup behind Mason, Lambert, and Eason. He's barely going to see the field except in garbage time or if someone gets injured. I doubt he stays here and won't be surprised if he transfers after this season.

That said, I had no idea Lambert was so quick and mobile. He's not Bauta mobile, but he's definitely got wheels, and he can run better than Ramsey. Plus he's tall as hell.

If you look at his stats, the only glaring issues were completion percentage (59%) and interceptions(11). But he didn't have an SEC OL, receivers, or RB corps. I mean I don't see Hutson Mason putting up last year's stats at UVA. Not even close. So I'm good with Lambert at this point. I'm glad it's finally settled.

yeah, I know...BR and him are actually buddies as they did camps and stuff together while in HS...it's all good...I'm still a BR fan but I really just want us to win...I think he is from Jesup or somewhere up the road...too lazy to look right now...

Seriously?

I'm shocked to say the least that it wasn't BR. But I believe that Schottcaller must have seen something in Lambert and I'm just going have faith in that. For now.

Rewind........

It's crazy to think about the UGA QB journeys in just 8 short months...

-Mason graduates, goes to NFL for 5 minutes, and now coaches high school QBs under famed epic adulterer Rush Probst
-Squattin-heimer moves to Athens, meets the QBs Bobo left him with, and sprints to toilet with raging nervous diarrhea. Barely makes it in time.
-Ramsey pouts. Bauta "works hard".
-Greyson Lambert loses his starting job at Virginia
-Squat says frick it, i'm desperate...and Greyson Lambert transfers to UGA
-Goose Creek superstar J-Park leaves UGA and is now competing for the starting job at south Dover Delaware Community College for the Arts
-Endless QB competition makes Richt go bald
-Lambert finally named starter
-to be continued

Far out.

I think if it was/is as close of a race as Richt has said he would show loyalty to the kid he recruited and who has been in the program the longest. The fact that he named Lambert the starter after being on campus for six weeks says something about GL

I thought it would go to Bauta or Ramsey because I thought CMR would ultimately pull in the kid he's seen in practice more. Personally I think it says a lot about how CMR feels about CSchott and Lambert. CMR is showing faith in his OC/QB and Lambert. He's not worried about what a recruit thinks about him. As Head Coach he recruited them both. I think its pretty obvious he's doing the right thing and letting his OC/QBC make the call. He's seen enough out of All three of these QBs to know that anyone of them can lead this team forward. He also knows he needs to trust his OC to make the right call and know which QB can run his style of Offense.

I agree with this ^^^
Also, perhaps CMR will become more of a "CEO-type" leader and give CSquatty more real control of the O. I kinda feel like Bobo was a CMR puppet.

I mean he learned from the guy, and Richt had a lot of influence in how the playbook was shaped because he essentially mentored Bobo, but he was far from a puppet. He called the plays.

Puppet was a poor choice of words, trying to hurry myself too much. You've better said what I was trying to get at... because he WAS his pupil I don't know if he ever really got out of CMRs shadow with true autonomy.
We've recently seen Richt give CJP almost total autonomy. I'm hoping he is doing the same thing here.
My CEO comment about CMR is hoping that he focuses more on the overall building of the program and less about play - calling. Not saying Bobo wasn't calling the O, but I feel like he might have been looking over CMBs shoulder more.

Oh, you're probably right. Especially in 07-10. I have a feeling he really loosened the reigns the last couple years as well.
