This is one of the better articles regarding the difficult job McGarity will have in attracting the right coach to blow the lid off of the program.

LINK

For the tl;dr crowd: McGarity should only move on from the Richt Era if he has a sure-fire top tier candidate that he is certain will come to Athens.

Just because you think they're horseshite doesn't make them any less legitimate.

I disagree. It is a real good description of the problem Georgia faces. Staples has provided one of the better impartial descriptions of Richt. He acknowledges that Richt simply isn't getting it done and notes that Georgia can't afford to just hire the next joe to come take over. Too many articles are unapologetic defenses of Richt and others that inflammatory pieces that are basically the voice of the fan base clamoring for change.

I obviously lean to the side that just wants change and thinks McGarity can't just sit on his hands but Staples makes a good point. The fact is that Florida has once again hired a good coach and Georgia can ill afford a shite hire.

I am just glad that the national media, in addition to a majority of fans, finally see that Richt is not going to take Georgia where it needs to be. The program is a Ferrari in the right hand lane going 5 under the speed limit.

All that is true. But was McElwain a sure fire, can't miss established head coach that Staples insists we must have in our pocket before making move? Nope. The Florida AD does a good job.

But let's say that those handful of coaches won't come. The solution is to continue with Richt? Come on. Do your research, send out confidential inquiries, make the move. It is time.

This isn't about fans. It's about a Board and President and AD that would be much more embarassed with some Petrino type shenanigans or getting caught with a bag man than what happens on the playing field. The heat is getting ratcheted up though...so it should get interesting.

A sure-fire candidate is almost impossible to find. Honestly the only ones Id say are guarantees are Saban and Meyer because they've won big at more than one school so you know what they're doing works.

That's not a reason not to hire someone that you think will produce better results.

If someone is of ill moral character is easier to discern than how they will do running an SEC program IMO.

There will be many, many coaches intersted, it is one helluva a job. Why folks on this board think it is a shite job baffles me.

We just need a quality AD to make the right decision and get the right coach. I realize this is harder done then contemplated but it is certainly possible.

I think he will be back next year. I imagine they will allow him at least another year. I do not like it but it is how I think it will play out.

Maybe, but I don't even remember being this bad after 2010. Everyone has turned on Richt and the team has completely quit.

Unfortunately, I believe this to be true. The only way I see otherwise is if Richt himself decides to resign and move on ... I don't see that happening either. All I do know is I'm ready for something different. I honestly can't stomach the shite we have witnessed on the field for a while now, especially the last 3 game Saturdays.

As for me, I really like Justin Fuentes at Memphis ... and no one can't tell me he wouldn't jump at the chance to come to UGA if he was offered.

I agree and I could be wrong but I think they really want to ensure Eason is playing for UGA next year.

You do not put one kid above the health and well being of the program.

Georgia is a top 10 destination coaching gig. To think otherwise is ignorant. Although each week seems to get more coaching vacancies to fill, UGA is only eclipsed by USCw right now.

Our problem is AD and co

Frankly, it doesn't matter what the fans want as long as they still show up.

Andy Staples' opinion only matters slightly more in that he could slightly alter the perception of the program.

2010 was way worse in my opinion but there's still more games for us to lose on the schedule.

Pretty much. If you're mad and want a change at HC, don't show up to games and don't renew tickets. Period. That's the only vote this fanbase gets in the process. Otherwise, what we're doing now is just a circle jerk of anger.
