Me too. He improved our defense significantly and lit a fire under our complacent administration. He will be sorely missed.

You remember that time, when we had Pruitt and he coached defense? Yeah that was awesome.

I will miss Pruitt a little, but I honestly think we got all that we could from him given the extenuating circumstances. He was able to field two stout defenses after years of incompetence on that side of the ball. Also, during his brief tenure, he accomplished a task that countless others had failed to do by actually forcing the issue of an IPF.

Was Pruitt a combative self righteous prick? Absolutely, but in the end I am thankful for the contributions that he made during his time in Athens.

I've read a quite a few people who have never meet nor coached with Pruitt describing him as an asshat. However, all of the players liked him, not one head coach has said a bad word about him, and he produced a outfricking standing D and recruited very well. Is it me or are there a bunch of jealous asshats in our fan base.

Jealousy? Really? Of course a head coach isn't going to come out and say that he's a dickhead, they have more tact than that. It's been confirmed that he has gotten in to fights with other coaches at practice and showed up drunk to Richt's house while recruits were there. Anthony Dasher confirmed that rumor a couple weeks ago. The guy can be a great coach and a cancer all at the same time?

Bobby Petrino became a millionaire by mastering that very skill.

I must have missed the "Reports" I've only seen peoples speculation and "inside" information from a guy who heard a guy say he smelled someone yelling. If there were actual news articles I stand corrected.

I'm thankful for what he did for this team over his tenure here, because he definitely raised the talent level on that side of the ball and (usually) called a pretty damn good game. It remains to be seen if I will miss him, though. Kirby is our coach now and I have full faith in him that he'll bring together the right staff. One rumor I've heard is that he will bring Tosh Lupoi in as DC or Co-DC. That would be fricking amazing. I do think he brings in a younger guy that he can mentor and slowly hand control to, like Saban did with him, and I think it will be someone who is lights out on the recruiting trail. Pruitt is an established DC who will want to run things his way with total autonomy; he will cede some control to Saban because of who Saban is, but I doubt he'd do that with a 39 year old first time head coach. Pruitt was not a good fit for our new staff, and that's what it came down to. If we had hired an offensive guy, then Pruitt probably would have stayed. I like the Kirby hire and I'm glad to have him in Athens. Onward.

Defensive coordinator Lance Anderson tells Rivals.com he does not intend to leave Stanford for another college defensive coordinator job.

I thought this was interesting. I haven't heard his name tossed around at all this season in a sea of DC searches. It got my curiosity up of why he'd make a point to say he wasn't going anywhere.

Does anyone know if there's any connection between Anderson and Kirby?

Related - we probably need a coaching vacancies sticky till the staff fills out. Maybe we could keep extraneous thread generation down every time Kirby reaches for his phone.

I think the reason Pruitt is out is plain and simple....Kirby wanted to rebuild from the ground up. We are not carrying much over from Richt's staff. Not to mention I believe their defensive philosophies are different. Only time will tell if it will hurt us. I am more surprised with Pruitt going to Bama than I am of him leaving UGA. I can't imagine him doing well under the strong arm of Saban.

There's a link on GTP today where Saban said he didn't even interview Pruitt. Just gave him the job based on his time at Bama and what he did while he was away.

Jefferson, why would you say that when it wasn't his decision to leave in the first place?
