I get what you're saying but isn't Herman in his first year as a HC? Not a ton of experience.
Given the points made by the OP I'd consider this a wash.

Gruden is happy in the booth, Kelly isn't coming to UGA, and the other two are in their mid to upper 50s. You're a fricking retard if you think Patterson or Briles would leave for UGA (or that it would be a good idea to go after either of them). They're both Texas guys and Patterson has been rumored in every big time job opening for the last 6-7 years and is still at TCU. They're in the Big 12 now, he's well established, and I believe he recently got a raise.
I said in another thread that I'm on the Herman train, but I would also be 100% on board a staff of Smart, Pruitt, and Napier. You keep calling him Kirby Muschamp (because that probably sounded a lot funnier in your head), but why couldn't he become Kirby Dantonio?

Guys.... It's gonna be kirby smart this is painfully obvious. Best of luck to him.

Yea,I think you're right.I've kinda resigned myself tp it.It's a typical move for the school.

But he has been a head coach for 1 season and has gone 11-1.
That is pretty impressive.

Damn...is it too late to get Richt back?

I'll wait until tomorrow... I hope Smart goes to SC

Herman makes much more since. UGA needs a CHANGE... Do you fricking understand? A frickING CHANGE.... A f.u.c.k.i.n.g change. He would bring something different not KIRBY frickING MUSCHAMP or any other SEC douchebag. It's not that fricking difficult...
What change are you referring to? If it's just an outsider coming in to bring new blood into the SEC then I can get on bored with that. By no means would it be necessary, not even close, but it does have merit (merit that I support). If it's just a culture change though Kirby, Pruitt, and plenty of other coaches would fit the bill.

Don't try to reason with him dude. He's clearly an alter.

I would like to see a more accomplished OC to try and rescue as much of the recruiting class as possible - but if you add Cochran and the O Line coach I'm all in for this.
The "who are we going to hire " argument has been laughed at for years but now here we are and the reality is that Meyer, Harbaugh, Fisher etc aren't realistic targets because they're happy where they're at or they have other positions they're waiting for.

Obviously it's a good record but are there any other factors that played in his favor that might be making him look better than he is? For all we know that could be an anomaly.

Scott Cochran makes $550,000 a year. Do you think McGarity will pay that? Maybe Smart will come, but I'm not sure he will be the magician some think he is.

You raise a valid point. Just how much are we opening up the pocket books on this endeavor?
Posted on 11/29/15 at 9:34 pm to MeatCleaverWeaver
This whole change is all on McGarity now...so I bet we see much more money being thrown around than before. This is his baby and he can look like a hero if he plays his cards right.

If boosters are driving this change, I'm guessing they are going to empty their pockets to get a good coach and crew.

650k for Cochran then. And I'm not playing. I truly think he may be the unsung difference maker for Bama. Especially in the trenches - where it's won!

HC $4M/year.
OC $1.25M/year.
DC $1.25M/year
OL & DL coaches $400,000/year
Other coaches $250,000/year each.
All those admin coaches averaging $125,000/year.
Bama had 15 people in their coaches box at the Iron Bowl.

Nothing about Kirby has ever really impressed me. He's better than a lot of options so if that's the choice so be it, I'll support it but I think we could probably do better.
