#3 Ranked South Region

The championships start tonight. Georgia plays Auburn, and I would go, but the Dawgs beat them 14-4 in their previous meeting, so Im going to wait until tomorrow when we should play Florida, who is our only somewhat serious competition in the conference.

Well then...

Also, the five seconds after I saw that there was an SEC hockey tournament and that we were the 1 seed is the most interested I've been in hockey in years.

If you ever get a chance, spending a night downtown athens getting blitzed and going to an ice dawgs game at the classic center (where they also serve beer) is a damn good time

Thanks for the update. It has been a few years since I've been, but those games are always fun.

Go Dawgs!

I hope to one day update the board with the success of the UGA rugby team, but I doubt that will ever happen.

Ha. I've never been to one of those matches. I'd rather be good at hockey. Chicks dig scars.

Have you seen or played rugby? Scars and other injuries are the norm.

I've played rugby about 15 years and I've been lucky for no major injury. Only a few concussions, separated shoulder, dislocated pinky that I can no longer bend properly, and black eyes. Oh and two bulging disks(L3, L5) that caused me to not to be able to walk for a week and had to go to physical therapy for almost three months. That was about a year and a half ago, and I don't think I'll ever get all my strength back in my right leg. Before the injury, I was squatting 400, and now I can barely get over 315.

I wake up and I think I have the body of a 70 year old most days, but I'm back at practice twice a week. Rugby is truly the greatest sport in the world.....but enough of that. This is the hockey thread.

Ha. I haven't played rugby, but I know a few crazy enough who have. You are right... it is pretty vicous.

Outside of a surgery, probably more scars from hockey (more cuts). But rugby probably does have more serious and more minor injuries (lack of padding/protection and the entire point of the game is contact like football).

Rugby might have more injuries, but hockey probably has worse ones. Hell, two good skaters could easily hit at 70 mph. It's also essentially played on concrete, not grass.

The NHL alone has seen slapshots that stopped hearts, crushed tracheas, and pulped eyes, plus at least two guys have had their jugular veins severed by skates.

I was getting the scores off the UGA hockey twitter and I think some of the games are being broadcast on periscope through SEC Hockey. Other than that, I have no clue.

Im not saying one is worse than the other because Ive never played hockey. Never been on skates. The only time Ive ever hit a puck was at the all star game last year in Nashville, but I have kissed the Stanley Cup, so there is that.

I just know my experiences with rugby.

Hockey is a fun sport and it's a shame it isn't more popular in the south. The Stanley Cup playoffs might be the most exciting playoff series in sports

Got my jaw dislocated by an elbow while playing rugby. As far as injuries go, I wouldn't recommend that one. You can definitely take some nasty hits, but the potential for really serious injury is higher in hockey.
