Anyone else glad we didn't hire him?

Well, his QB this year was Kenny Hill so he didn't have much of a chance. Also don't think we could have gotten him.

I agree that we couldn't have gotten him, but I don't know if I'd blame Kenny Hill for everything. Hill was pretty good before leaving A&M. Even so, if he couldn't win with a mediocre QB there, he'd have had the same issue here from time to time (JT3, Cox, Lambert).

Hill was good for about 5 games. Mississippi State annihilated them and it went so badly for Hill the rest of the year that he got benched after they lost 59-0 to Alabama

I still have faith in Kirby, and what he will do for us in the future, but Patterson would have been a home run hire, even though there is no way he would have left Fort Worth.
He has almost single handedly made that program. They were in the WAC when he took over as head coach. Then he took them to Conference USA, the Mountain West, and now because of his success, they are in the Big 12.
10 wins or more in 10 of his 16 seasons, including an undefeated season where he won the Rose Bowl, and two great seasons in the Big 12 in 2014 and 2015, and its not like he is doing it with top talent. His past 5 recruiting classes have been ranked 22, 42, 43, 36, and 29.
Everyone knew TCU was going to have a difficult season because they lost QB Trevone Boykin, RB Aaron Green, and WR Josh Doctson.
Patterson is easily a top 10 coach in college football. TCU will be back.

Yes, but probably not for the same reasons although you cite no reasons. Patterson has done a hellava job over the years doing more with less at TCU. And I'm reasonably confident he would have made a good coach at UGA purely in terms of coaching ability. But he is not an SEC guy and this is not his recruiting area so he is better off staying where he is. I doubt if he would have ever come here anyway because he know obviously knows that he is not an SEC type coach.
