Ganus....first white inside linebacker to regularly start at UGA since??

John Brantley in the mid- to late 1980's?
Am I forgetting someone?
Why is that, anyway? Seems like there was this string of All SEC or All American white guys at the position in the 80's...they were tackling machines. Zambiasi, Tommy Thurson, Knox Culpepper, Bill Mitchell.
Brantley may have been the last. That's pushing 30 years ago. Changes in demographics? Changes in recruiting?

Wasn't David Pollack a LB or was he a DE? I can't remember...

Him being "undersized" had nothing to do with him not working out.
He cracked his vertebrae and had to shelf his career.He was also moved to and was projected as an OLB.

Brandon Douglas is the best white running back I've ever seen. to bad he doesn't get enough touches to get in his own rhythm. Michael Bennett was the best white receiver in the SEC in his time at UGA production wise. GreatWhiteHopeU

John Allen, Brent Collins, and Matt McCormick were after Brantly. Tolbert may have been the most recent.
ILBs in that day were big and they filled gaps. They didn't have near the responsibilities they have now. The game has changed a lot since then. They still need to fill gaps, but they also need to play more man as well as drop into zones. Its just a different body type. Doesn't mean they can't be white though....

I was talking specifically about inside linebackers at UGA, and how we had a run of All American white dudes at the position way back when. Some of those guys you listed are TEs and DEs in the NFL.
Regardless,there are some great NFL LB's who are white dudes, too. Paul Posluszny is another good example (in addition to Luke Kuechly, who you listed). Seems like they tend to come out of programs up north, Penn State, Ohio State, etc. Just curious why we no longer seem to recruit those kinds of players.
Maybe it's as Peter Buck said...different body types, different schemes...

I put Ganus on Pruitt etc. They knew he could play. That's why they went after him and only him when UAB folded
