Defense looks good with key pieces still to be added from injury.

Oline did not look good. Still need an answer at the tackle positions.

Eason looked similar to last year. Brief flashes of brilliance contrasted by lots of inaccurate throws.

Fromm was consistent and made some nice throws, albeit against a presumably lesser defense.

Re: receivers, good signs from Wims, Holloman, Godwin, Hardman. Stanley and Chigbu very meh. Tyler Simmons started very badly but made a few big plays to redeem himself.

Overall, I just don't trust Chaney to put a competent offensive product on the field.

That is true, but we saw not an ounce of creativity during the season last year either. The jury is still out on Chaney and this offense. The jury is still out on Eason as well unless he proves it.

Summary:

-Eason looks basically the same as he did last year. Some impressive throws and plays here and there, but also very inaccurate.

-Fromm was impressive. Fans will be talking him up all offseason.

-Offensive line doesn't look any better. We better hope Wilson or Thomas can help us out immediately.

-Godwin and Hardman should be able to fill the spot that iMac had last year. Holloman will see a lot of playing time this fall.

-Defense overall was very good, which was to be expected. Kirby spoke all offseason that the offense was way ahead of the defense, but I wasn't buying it.

Did any young skill guys stand out. I didn't get to watch as much as I had wanted to. It seemed like Simmons got better as the game went on though.

Eason looks nothing like a QB. He is slow physically and he seems slow mentally. Eason just seems uncoordinated most of the time.

Fromm lacks the strongest arm but he is at home in the QB position plus his leadership skills are off the chart.

Smart inherited Eason but he chose Fromm. If you can't see that Fromm will take over early in the season you are blind.

I just got done watching the game.

The Good:

- First team defense looks like they are ready to frick people up this year. From the DBs to DL, there is a ton of experience, size, and ability to be an elite unit this year.

- Fromm looks the part. Nice touch on throws and looks like a very capable quarterback that will lead this team in due time. There is a monumental difference in the defense he was facing compared to the one Eason was facing. I will leave it at that.

- The receivers young and old looked GOOD today. Holloman will see lots of playing time this year if he continues to improve. Mecole looked good. Heck, once Simmons got a few drops out of him he started to make plays. Godwin showed some toughness that we have been desperately needing from him. Wims is our go-to receiver who will be asked to make big plays this year and I think he is ready to do that. Woerner will be a vital part of this offense as well.

- Holyfield looked good today...quick, tough, and good vision. As usual, no problem from our running backs today.

The Bad:

- First team offensive line...I don't think this will be the real first team but they just didn't look good today and I am worried that we will see more of the same from them this season. Will Thomas, Wilson, or anyone else be ready to step up in year one?

- Kicking. Rodrigo needs to get it together on kickoffs...I still don't know how the University of Georgia cannot get a guy who can consistently kick the ball deep in the endzone every single year. The field goals weren't much better.

- I am including Eason here, but his day wasn't as bad as some are making it out to be. I will say, there really isn't any reason to be super enthusiastic that he has made progress based off this game, but that doesn't necessarily mean he hasn't improved either. Time will tell. It's just really hard to gauge his performance when the offensive line is getting dominated. Eason made some really impressive plays in the second half but continues to miss throws that he just flat out shouldn't.

The bad: guest referees. The ref cam. All of the self-congratulatory talk in the booth about the guest refs and ref cam. The SEC commish visiting the booth to talk about the guest refs for the entire 3rd quarter. Being forced to watch the broadcast team and SEC commish talk about the guest refs and ref cam the entire third quarter. The fact that all but one of the guest refs were moron alumni from other schools.

It was awful.

Eason barely had anytime to throw. I only caught the 4th quarter, but every time he dropped back he had pressure on him. If the line can improve then I believe he will look a lot better. He rushes his deep throws, and doesn't go through the whole progression, so they end up ducks

Takeaways:

#SicEm17 is the real deal! LeCounte is unpolished, but has superstar potential IMO

We're loaded at RB. Herrian and Holyfield both look very capable. (Bring on Zeus)

WRs are stepping up. Wims and Holloman look like stars.

OL still very unimpressive, but I like the way the D is swarming to the ball.

I don't know who thought of "ref cam" he should get tossed in the same fire it does.

Put Fromm with the 1's vs the 1's on D and his stats would, at best, be a mirror of Eason's. Holloman's TD reception wwas thrown short and inside, it would have been broken up or picked with a good corner in coverage. Eason still has his struggles, especially with accuracy on the short and intermediate throws, but Fromm had a much easier path with 2 WRs in Hardman and Holloman that are probably our most talented WRs.

Fromm #11? Hoping he wears it better than Lambert.

With the bar set that high, Fromm's gonna need help from Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay.

When is ESPN going to realize that people watch the game for the game, not for the refs or the commentators in the booth?

Judging by their ever-diminishing ratings, never.

Lets not forget we have a ton of very talented Freshman coming in this Fall..not that they will all be starters or something, but I could see the oline switching around a bit.

We also have to remember that the offense was as vanilla as it gets. That was probably 1/10th of the playbook.

It was all our players out there. These guys know each other better then anyone including tendencies and weaknesses, so it doesn't surprise me our Run game suffered. I just don't rely a lot on this game to judge the team as a whole

Eason, on the other hand, had an atrocious first half. That throw to chubb over the middle that was behind him was scary to see. That shite has got to stop. I know the line didn't do him any favors, but some of his throws just sucked...no way around it.

The game was pretty boring until the 4th quarter, but overall, I'm not worried about this team...we are a 10 win team if we can play to our potential. If Eason continues to develop and the oline can improve, we could have a great season

Yeah, that was some scary shite. I hope the run game is stout or we are in deep trouble.
