Legitimate question... suppose we fire fox. Who can we hire that could do better?

Realistically, who? Roy Williams isn't coming, Bill Self isn't coming, and Rick Patino isn't coming.

Last question, how would you like to see the direction of our team adjusted or changed? Don't say recruiting because every team that isn't Duke or Kentucky needs to recruit better. I'm curious as to the specific things you'd want done differently.

1. Tell us about the guy from Chattanooga, idk anything about and and would like to know why you think he would do better than fox.

3. You didn't answer the question. What kinda kids would you like to recruit better?

Matt McCall
-Just turned 35
-2nd year with Chattanooga
-29-6 last year, 8-2 this year
-Before UTC, was student Manager, Team Manager, Director of Operations at Florida. Left for assistant coaching job at Florida Atlantic. Then finally was an assistant under Billy Donovan.

I dont know what kind of recruiting ties he has or anything, and personally, I would like to see him succeed at Chattanooga another year or two with his own players before thinking about poaching him.

I actually like fox and think it would damaging to get rid of him but this board is full of people who see the opposite but I just wonder what they'd like to see done differently.

Idk, but if anyone thinks mark fox is THE ABSOLUTE VERY BEST COACH IN AMERICA we can get, they're insane. It's our AD's job to go find someone, but I assure you Fox is not the top, A1, elite, #1 prospect for our program.

I've said it a hundred times. I'm thankful for fox, extremely fricking thankful, for what he's done. He isn't bad. He doesn't suck. He's not getting us in trouhble. He's set RECORDS here. Don't have a bad thing to say about the guy other than that he's not going to take us to the next level. And there's nothing wrong with that...we just need to go ahead and realize it and do something about it.

"20 wins for 3 straight years" is great to put on a motivational flyer but 0 tourney wins in 8 years and a couple more 1 and dones in the NIT aint gonna cut it.

Anyone (mainly rockchalk) who wants to stay the course, I'll just direct you to baylor. Baylor is in the middle of nowhere in a town that is best known for a hostage standoff shootout. They have good academics, but their town and overall ambience isn't 1/100th of what we have, and their recruiting base isn't a fraction of what we have. They had a player KILL another player not even 5 years ago that led to the coach's ouster, and their football program has been mired in a natinoal rape controversey. Yet, as of last week they had THE #1 TEAM IN AMERICA. That's all I need to knwo. If motherfricking baylor can do it, there isn't a single got damn reason we can't either. And fox isn't going to.

we all like fox, liking him isn't the issue.

it's full of people who want to see UGA basketball actually win an ncaa tournament game. Do you not?

having a coach that is a better recruiter and doesn't make retarded fricking subs every game, have 2 people on scholarship who have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS being on scholarship aside from money or their last name (young and kessler), being able to have a bench that is capable of scoring points (we haven't had that in ages), all of that would be a start.

All I want is to watch a team with two guys like Yante and JJ actually play up to its potential without wilting under the full court press, committing a billion turnovers, missing free throws, and bricking 3 pointers and pull up jumpers what seems like 80% of the time.

I mean there are small schools out there with worse facilities and recruiting bases that are at least technically sound and strategically strong. We may not have the best facilities or recruiting in the SEC, but we should have enough to get more than buy if we just played smart and up to our team's collective ability. THAT is what drives me nuts about watching Fox's teams; flashes of brilliance and then runs of stupidity and ineptitude

If we miss the tourney this year then I think we need to make next year his make or break year.

Okay get back to the question. I understand your desire to find someone who can do better and that's fox isn't that person, according to you. I disagree, I think we will be better next season and the year after and who knows after that.

Answer the two questions from my OP.

My answers are 1.) Nobody because I don't believe Greg mcGarity is capable of making that kind of upgrade hire when it isn't spoon fed to him from our boosters and 2.) Everything I said above; just tighten the frick up on the small stuff. Play technically sound. And for the love of God in heaven above, find someone besides JJ that can consistently make shots from beyond the arc. If Ned Schneebly in a Florida jersey can granny toss his way toward 27 points off the bench, we can damn well find some better support players that can actually shoot and score

that's another issue I have. Under fox we have always only had a few guys that we could actaully count on to score in any given game. No, I don't expect us to bring in kentucky type classes littered with 5*, that's totally unrealistic. I dont' even care if we miss out on the superstars like Yante. I just want us to consistently put 4 or 5 guys on the floor that we feel comfortable with putting the ball in the basket. This year we have Yante and JJ and nobody else. Sure parker or harris or DO will have a game where they go off, but for the most part our entire team is only 2 guys. When both of them are out..we're clenching our buttholes just hoping we dont' frick up too bad.

It's year 8! This shouldn't be happening!

I dont care who the coach is, I just want someone that can recruit the state of Georgia.

Our top in state recruit in 2017 is #6 in the state, #4 in 2016, 2015 #9, 2014 didnt sign one player from the state, 2013 #9, 2012 #17, 2011 #1, and 2010 #7.

Yes, we are losing some guys to blue bloods like Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, and UCLA, but we are being out recruited in our own back yard by Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, Tennessee, and other teams not in the SEC.

Im not saying we should lock down the state by any means, but we got to have at least a little impact in it, especially while Georgia Tech is down.

Facilities are already great, and the athletic department has already spent almost 20 million making Stegeman a lot better. Next on the agenda is a center hanging scoreboard. We're not getting a new coliseum because there would be nowhere for the team to play when you tear the old one down. You can't put it somewhere else because then it wouldn't be near the training facility. That training facility is already as good as any in this country. It's actually fantastic I think. The gymnastics facilities are also the best in the country.

Actually, I've always thought that UGA should partner with the Classic Center to build a brand new basketball arena downtown; put it where "Akins Arena" is for the UGA Hockey games and continue to sell alcohol and drastically better concessions since it's off campus.

Walkable from bars and restaurants downtown for fans... Basketball continues to use Stegeman until the arena is finished and then it is turned over to Gymnasitics, volleyball, women's basketball full time.

That might make sense, but does the athletic department and Mark Fox want the coliseum near the training facility. Also, if they were going to do that I would think they wouldn't waste millions upgrading Stegeman. Then again, that would be exactly something our athletic department would do. Anyone remember the 20 yard indoor turf area that was a complete waste of time. If you're going to do something, do it right the first time.

we are actually competitive against most good teams now, above .500 in league play for 3 years straight, we actually get to play in a post-season tournament, etc

So yeah, just like the Felton years
